1. I have found a big file (over 700MB) in my Unreal system folder, containing quite verbose logs - UT2004.log. I don't remember if / why / when / how I turned on logging. Please tell me how to turn off Unreal logging to file and/or decrease verbosity.
2. I had, but not working , alias in User.ini to shield-jump. Could you post working one?
Shield Jump (press key charge the shieldgun , releasing will shoot the shieldgun, jump and best weapon all at once)
Aliases[#]=(Command=\"getweapon xweapons.ShieldGun | Button bFire | Fire | OnRelease Jump | onrelease switchtobestweapon\",Alias=\"ShieldJump\")
Key=ShieldJump
1) Should you rather not try and take a look at the log* to determine what is causing such a large amount of text to be logged?
Probably something like a faulty or not correctly uninstalled mod triggering such a large output.
Or perhaps something wrong with the core files, in which case it would be really worth investigating.
About log - i have file cleared and set read only now
Do you mean mod which I installed during joining the server? I don't remember I installed anything by myself.
I don't have enough knowledge of the inner workings of UT2004 to give you a definite answer but yes, I guess it is possible that it is one (or several) mod/mutator/map coming from a server that triggers log messages piling up in your log file.
Setting the log as read-only is a good temporary workaround (sometimes used to solve issues with viruses and other malware).
But as soon as you have a bit of time, you should set it back to read-write and:
- Try to play a few maps offline. Then check if the log file has increased and then check what could be responsible if that is the case. As you said you did not install any mod by yourself, you should not see any issue.
- Do the same but by trying to play online.
There are a lot of possible explanations for the 700Mb log file. Perhaps you helped someone setting up a server and therefore had a lot of missing/badly configured files. In such a case the log file should no longer increase.
Otherwise, perhaps there is a server around that has some configuration issues. So if you can pinpoint it, it could help the server admin to know that there is an issue.
My log over-writes the previous session each time I load UT2004. The log file size for nearly two hours play last night was 1682 kb.
A quick search check of the ini files didn't show anything obvious to switch on/off over-writing or merging of the log, and nothing came up in a quick Google search. There were several entries that looked like you could switch off logging of some actions, but I didn't dabble with them just in case
That should also keep the log smaller .. but then again it should not be as big as it is anyways
There must be something wrong .. better to fix it rather then ignoring it
