Well as the title states i have changed the ons server to another gametype
Well somewhat that is because conquest is basicly Onslaught in overtime (Domination)
with the difference that the nodes are not linked to any core and can be built or destroyed by any team.
Also the core can not be attacked and it starts at 1000 and drains at a current speed depending on how many nodes your team has up ( fully up)

Had it up since yesterday but made a boo boo in the voting so it got stuck on 1 map :o

That is all fixed now and it should be working fine.

Maps are only 1 round and a max of 30 minutes if both teams do nothing but this will almost never happen i guess :)

So i would say give it a go and lemme know what u think :)

well u should keep the normal ONS option for now , just incase they want to play for now , and in some maps that mode just goes wrong , excessive camping , spawnkilling and i seen frustration in some players :roll: .
extra note : there was also a king guy that joined and kept swearing and other stuffs , in the end he ended leaving cause of a mute :roll: ( soz but i was observing the guys behavior ).

I also think the server should have both normal ONS and Conquest as votable gametypes (you can either use the built-in system as is done in FH#4 or UTcomp).


More importantly, I believe that Conquest only really makes sense when played with RPG (as on BBS).

From what I read in Fluffy's posts, the aim of Conquest is to be as close as possible to the Conquest gametype in the Battlefield series. For those who have not tried this series, I advise trying the Star Wars Battlefront games, which are basically the same but set in the Star wars universe and therefore funnier (Battlefield is set in WWII and hence is more 'realistic'), at least in my opinion.

Since Battlefield/SW Battlefront are class-based (some quick light soldiers, some heavy soldiers, some able to build turrets/repair vehicles, some heroes etc....), the best way to reproduce this feeling is to use RPG.

Basic (non-RPG) Conquest can probably be fun for a short while, but then you only have an alteration of normal ONS with some elements missing (cf. Coco's post) and some maps are not at all adapted to such gameplay (cf. Killer's post).


I highly advise you add RPG to Conquest.
If I am not mistaken, it is possible to give every new player a high starting level (i.e. not level 1) and therefore points to spend so that they can build their own 'class'. This way, people could play without needing to spend hours building a character class.

Maybe you could do something like starting level = 100 and max level = 100 (or maybe 105 or something like that to reward those play often, but not giving them too much of an advantage)?

If you choose to go the RPG way, I am sure BattleMode would give a lot of helpful pieces of advice if you PMed him on Titan (or BBS if you have an account there).

This game type should only use small maps.
Big maps are a no go.
I play alot of BF2142 and the game speeds from UT to BF are massively differant. Maps with lots of nodes dont work with this game type.
The point of the game type is take the node and hold it, just like the control points or silos on BF. This does not happen with about 50 nodes.
I dunno about having rpg on it, because if 1 person plays there more than everyone else. He/she will to be too powerfull than the rest.
All I suggest is, use only small maps with the max of about 4-5 nodes.
And no rpg.

Ow yeh. If you do put rpg on it. I suggest only making the max lvl, say 40-50. And make the xp required for each lvl be pritty high. Maybe 4000 or something. This will stop new people joining and getting owned and then just leaving in no time.

Well, it will all depend on what Carnage decides to do, since there are a lot of configurable things in RPG.

But you can get a good example by reading the FAQ for the vCTF RPG server on BBS:

Have a look at V Experience Table. You can see how high the jump from level 118 to 119 is and even higher from 119 to 120 and 120+.


As I said, I believe giving a good initial level (or an easy way to climb through the first levels), so that players can build their custom class, would be a good idea.
It should also help to prevent newcomers from getting easily owned by seasoned players, depending of course on what they choose to spend their points on.

Although I agree that since it probably won't be a 24/7 RPG server (if normal ONS is kept, which I hope), the scope of available levels should be reduced, in order to give not too much of an advantage to those spending most of their times on it.
But still a few rewards would not be a bad thing.


I don't know BF2142, but in SW BF2, there are some classes that are only accessible once you get a certain number of in-match points.
I don't think something similar would be possible with ONS RPG (starting with a certain level/built class, allowing levels to be gained during a match and then resetting to the built class at the start of the match).

This way, leaving a few levels to be gained by the good (or the persistent) players would be the closest thing.



I don't know any ONS map with 50 nodes. The mini-radar map would probably look crammed.

Maelstrom has 23 if I remember correctly and is the map with the more nodes that comes to mind.


Anyway, there is the option of creating specific node setups for maps used in the RPG rotation.

u just have to rethink your tactics bit.

TBH i am findin i like it a lot .... depending on the map...Foundry and Spam are cool in this mode.....Air Mars was ROFLMAO...and crater well ......I am still trying to find the node there :D

OH and if u RPG it I am leaving, is almost annoying as adding omni shite

lol idd it is addictive. I've only just discovered RPG and I'm hooked. Too bad GHG invasion shut down.

imo I think it would be a nice addition.
