DM-TCP-Ariza - Updated 15-10-2006

i made a few little changes:

- new texture

- the room with the slime, there is no slime on this version since it was totally annoying i replaced it with solid concret.
also you can reach the mountain by the fan now which you couldnt do in the Unreal1 version and also i added a ladder to give an easier chance to kill the roof camper ^^

- and something funny added too :)


its nothing special but better than the new Ariza which i totally hate.

its a TAM only map couse i didnt place weapons and other stuff which you need in TDM/DM

and i also noticed that the fan doesnt move for some odd reason, but it does in my editor :S

Nice map Kobra, love the }TCP{ room :D

Just a couple of glitches with the fan (it works on mine but it seems to spin too fast or out of sinc, something like that), and the screen jumps a bit when going up the ladder .... but thankfully there are no sticky points that I find in the other version on Carnage's server (mainly by the entrance to the asdm corridor in that "original" version).

Cant you make things go faster in that fan area, you nearly got up with a single jump in the other ariza :P

And I think theres some bug in the water somewhere, when Carnage was pushed in there I could only see his shadow moving :P

I kept hearing about this door and some secret room blabla, that door by the elevator does it even open? :P

yup..shoot in the source of the waterfall.
and about the fan room, carnage also mentioned to make it faster.
but if i do so you will reach the ground in 20 min. if you want to go down from top to ground.
in other words, if i set the gravity lower you will get up fast but come down too slow.
with a lil bit practise you can go up with one double-jump and one wall-dodge against one of the four ramp turbine thingys :p

the fan is buggy yes, sometimes it even stops and when it moves it looks weird :p
its the first time i used a 'mover' actor which is instantly moving :)
and about the ladder, you mean when someone is using the ladder or when you do?
couse UT2k4 has no animation for ladder climbing thats why it looks strange when you see someone climbing the ladder.

yes, i think thats becouse i dont used the water surface thingy.. dont know how to use that so i cant fix it sorry :p

First off...VERY NICLEY DONE! I DLed it b-4 but could not look at it. I just now looked, and I must say, you have learned a few tricks.

Here are a few things that I have noticed though.

Of coarse I also found a few few problems that would make your maps better. That is why I am here.

1, and here is the biggest. You should put all of your self made textures, Static meshes and other things, under myLevel. NEVER save a a package. This makes for cleaner working, uploading and downloading. Of coarse if you make your textures for other games and want to use them over and over again, save them under a new name. I made this mistake under Sinfonia. It confused me at first, but then I changed the packages to myLevel and I never had to save anything but my map itself.

2, I noticed the water problem, and it looks like a HOM effect. Somewhere there is a brush not connected right. (BTW, I liked your water effect, how did you make it? I am having trouble with mine in my new level. HELP ME PLEASE)

I am not sure about the botnodes yet. I have not looked. I want to look at the other stuff first.

Just looked at the water thing. Try Vertex editing the lower part of the ground that you put in, and bring it into the brown brush. Also your water. I am not sure what effect a copied brush has on the properties of the normal brushes, but that is where it looks like is the problem.

I found it. If you look close enough, your fluid surface actor is set under the water volumn.

raise it up to a "notch" over the volumn and the problem is solved. :D

1: yes, i tried to do so and it worked all fine, the few custom textures i used i saved in 'mylevel' and it seemed to work fine. just the water texture which i used from the map DM-ExoticaV2 (special thanx to flowerpower :P)
i couldnt export the water texture to import it again so that i can save it in 'mylevel'
the static meshes i also saved all just one static mesh made probs here again, it were the lights at the elevator.
also a little problem happend with a texture packege which said its needed on carnages server, it was your sinfonia texture :p
strangly it doesnt show me that i used any texture of your package, but it obviously does ^^

2: how you said in the posts above, problem will be solved when i put the water vollume above the water texture?? ok i will try that for next time :)
but you noticed that i havent used the 'waterfluid surface', right?
its just the animated water texture and the water vollume.
