Omg, is it so difficult to understand?....

I do not use any Windows as my primary Operating System. There is something beside always crashing computers, blue screens and so on.
I'm running the GNU-System (which is pronounced often wrongly as "Linux"). It is totaly Windows-free....

You are right!

It is the point that I have just bought the Netgear Router newly. The old D-Link unfortunately did not support any WPA encoding and had reach problems.

Yes, I called these the evil spirits ;-) Now I have WPA encoding and a proper sending- receiving power, but...

Next time i will try a Netgear W-LAN Card instead of the D Link.

I hold on.

What do you expect? I was drunk when I wrote that lol!

Besides, somehow these UN*X systems are all alike somehow, aren't they?! Well you certainly know that better than I... The only reason I use the dreaded asshole system is because I know jack shit about the others... err well.... actually if Commodore was still up and good and there was an Amiga capable of running Unreal and UT2k4, I'd be happy to use AmigaOS :-/

And if you say the GNU-System is windows-free, does that mean you have a shell only and that's it? Hard to believe... there got to be something like the KDE or Gnome...!?

The advantage of the GNU-System is that you can choose if you are a hardcore hacker or a compleat Luser (is that the correct translation for german "DAU"?).

You can't say than GNU has a KDE-Like look. Nor you can say it has a gnome-like look. The user has the freedom to chose and to make is own look...

windows-free means it does not contain any software of Microsoft(tm) Windows(tm).

Hello friends, please cool your systems down ;-)
Don't ask any debate of principle 'who builds the best operating system' about. Everybody has his favorite and if it's running well - wonderfull!

What I wouldn't like to leave, it's Windows becomes a crash system.
This is absolute nonsense!

Dear TCP the_kay give me an identically constructed computer like runs on the GNU. I will install it, like Microsoft recommends it to their specialists. Work with the computer for 4 weeks and you don't want to start your computer with GNU any more ;-)
I say this as such a specialist (MCSE - Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer).

The most Windows problem causes by the following facts:
Everybody, but also really everybody thinks, he can just install this or that 'scrap metal freeware / shareware' or beta drivers at his computer. Changing rights, etc. This simply goes too easily under Windows!
And the DAU simply doesn't want to understand ;-)

I have administered a SCO-UNIX server for 5 years.
Believe me, I wouldn't have in the dream come onto it to change something which doesn't have to be unconditional! My prayer-book was the 800-sided Manual. With them you could enter this 72 signs long commands at the console. Oh Jeh!

For 7 years i plan, install and manage exclusively Windows servers and Workstations.
I have administered everything from W95 about Millenium, W2000 and XP clients. since workstation (about 114 pieces) exclusively runs under XP and W2000, we have peace on earth!

It exactly looks at the servers. Exclusively I use W2003 servers, Exchange 2003, ISA server 2004, SQL2000, terminal server 2003. And I swear, the machines are installed cleanly and they run properly. Always! With unbelievable performance and stability.

Why do these operating systems and BackOffice programs dispel more and more Novell and UNIX/Linux computers? Because everyone is silly and nasty? Because everyone is mistaken? No, the Windows systems have became very good.

However, you are right, TCP the_kay, you have your system adapted for your own needs. This is only possible, because you know what you do! And it also works because of this.

No DAU would come onto the idea, to compile the Kernel newly, or change the right management of GNU. Unfortunately, this is the great difference to Windows. Everybody here feels competent to change everything.

And when i ask a Employee when he send me an SOS for his private Machine "what the hell, you have done with your computer?" I will always become the same answer. Nothing at all! :?

This was the word to Sunday. ;-)

Well I was using (and I am using (just for some windows-only games)) Windows. And particularly on slow machines Windows crashes often. This is my personal experience - I don't know about you, but if I use my computer it crashes often....And I son't think I am alone in this world with this problem...

Oh, now I understand! You want to say that I should not install any software myself (particularly non-microsoft-software), but let a Microsoft guy do it.
If this person has the source code and is able to change so that I won't have problems, I agree. Unfortunately, I don't think that any Microsoft guy who won't cost me >10^3 bucks has access to the source code. And if he hasn't, he can do nearly as much as I can do. The options of Windows are very few. You can't really change much. I'd say I know a lot of what you can change and you can not.

But I agree with you, if I don't install any software myself and let no other person do this and lock it up in a chest deep deep down the ocean, I won't complain that the system is too slow or crashes...
However, you are right, TCP the_kay, you have your system adapted for your own needs. This is only possible, because you know what you do! And it also works because of this.

Like I already wrote, you don't NEED to compile the Kernel yourself or do anything complex. You can just make the GNU system look like Windows. It's all possible.
But if you improve your skills and maybe sometimes use a command line and then maybe want to do something complex, the GNU system is still right for you.

I tried UT on GNU/Linux too, on Fedora Core 4, Knoppix, Elive and SuSe, neither one does the job for me. It is openGl based. So i heard. It is dramaticly slow. How do you play UT on a GNU/Linux based OS, when UT was designed for Direct 3D ??? (i know, i know, LOL)

And blue screens ? what Windows version you using, 95 ???
And yes when i am using my GNU/Linuxes the system often hangs, because i try things out. My XP PRO on the other hand always works, no blue screens, i am very happy with it. :)

And my whole house is wireless, the only thing i had to get rid of to make it all work, was my wireless phone, it disturbed the connections. And sometimes when i put on a hallogeen light, that disturbs connections too. And no i am not drunk while i am writing this

Now let's drink, and play ! 8)

It's OpenGL

You should download the 3d video drivers....
They are not included in the standart version, as most of them are proprietary software....

It's only the second company in the world when it comes to wireless equipment, after Cisco.

Lots of companies use their stuff from supermarkets to logistical companies like for instance UPS.

It's not cheap but very good.
