Unreal Tech Demo

Post by SpikeMan »

I dwnlded the Unreal Tech Demo a while back..

Was going to try opening the maps in Unreal (same filetypes as Unreal of course:P), but Unreal emptied out my virtual memory!

So I went in and deleted a lot of crap from the drive I have Unreal on (which just happens to be the one with Windows installed on too).
Went back and tried launching the maps again.
And well... It still ran out of virtual memory.. I had about 600mb free though but still.. Anyone know how I can fix that without having to delete everything on my damn harddisk?...

(Figured it would be a point in addin some specs at the same time..
Intel P2 350MHz
448MB ram(we got one 64mb, 128mb, and a 512, but our motherboard only supports up to 256..)
10 gb+1gb harddisk.. And well.. three logical drives C:, D:, and E:, which Unreal is on.. E: with something around 600mb left, D: is the 1gb harddrive, and C: well... 250mb left and its stuffed with music.. This is pretty much what we have.. Oh, yeah, A Vulcan B 16mb gfx card..)
Whoever can get anything out of that and help me with it, that would be great! :D

Running out of virtual memory is usually Unreal's way to tell you that you discovered a secret bug.

No, but seriously it took all my virtual memory away.. I was watching how much space was left on E: when I was startin those maps and it dumped all of it...

Whats the Unreal Tech Demo ? :P
Maybe the maps arent compatible ? :/
Or maybe your Windows Virtual Memory settings are too low..then again, when they're on the usual "auto", it should work..So just blame Unreal..

maybe those maps use Unreal's Eatmem feature: fills the memory with garbage until it collapses.

Unreal Tech Demo, is the first and only Unreal Demo, I think.

Well, I don't know if they're compatible or not, they are .u*wootever maps were again.. :S* so I should think they would work. And I'm using auto on my virtual memory settings thingy :P

Well.. Ok, I'll blame Unreal then :P
