MLUT: TDM UT2004 Europe - Season 1

Eventhough you guys mainly play TAM, I still want to point you at this TDM tournament that is going to be organised.

What is it?
It is a different kind of tournament than the ones as Clanbase or ESL. It is a TDM tournament based on teams that are drawfted by Team Captains. This will create teams that are mostly equally balanced cosisting of players with skills going from high, mid to low. This will prevent teams being created with only the uber pro players of the community that will win the tournament on paper by default.

How does it work?
Well, you don't sign up as a team, but as a player. As a player you are worth a certain amount of money. The amount that you are worth depends on the skill level you have. So, for example, if you are new to the game, you are worth € 100,- and if you are a pro TDM player you are worth € 1000,-, or anything in between depending on ur skill level. This will be determined by the Admins and the Team Captains / community.

Each Team Captain has a certain amount of money that they can spend on buying players (read: no real money offc ). So a Team Captain cannot spend all his money on top players, because he won't have enough money for that. Team Captains will have to pick players one by one. So Team Captain A picks players Z, Captain B picks players Y, etc. untill all captains have picked one player. Then the proces starts over again, untill each captain has a full team of around 6-7 players.

With this system you will create drafted teams of somewhat equall skills (if captains chosen correctly offcourse). This system has already been a success with the UT99 CTF community and perfect for community's that are close to being dead, like TDM ).

I'm proud to announce Major League Unreal Tournament now opens to ut2k4 so from now on periodically there will be a Major League hosted in size of 4x4 Team Deathmatch to keep up the competitiveness in this game!

How-to register on MLUT

At MLUT teams are drafted that means there are captains and only they can build up the teams. Since it's new for most the 2k4 players around i explained the basics with many useful information on the league's forum which should be read if you are interested.

BUT to give a really short peek-in it's about building up a team from a fixed amount of "money" in USD $ while the free agents - thats the player-pool - are ranked by price which represents the skill level - so drafting with a salary based system makes this league feel and work like one of those real Major League sports in the world.

~This also means if you will only play for certain players or captains, then do everyone a favor and simply do not sign up as we should all in this for fun and competitive play.

Fun thing about this tournament is that you don't know in which team you will end and with which players. Also your skills don't matter much, as long as you know the basics about TDM (I can give crash courses for anyone interested ).

Something that you can already do in advance is to make a bind so that you can drop weapons. It is one of the most important things you can do in TDM!

Yeah, sign-ups will be open until end of January.

After that there will be a period (I don't know how long) to give all the players a money value depending on their skills. The most high skilled player will get a money value of € 1000,-, and the worst will get € 100,-. So you will need to play a few TDM matches so community can decide on your value. This is important so we get fair teams in the draft.

In the draft team captains will be announced and their team-name. Team captains are allowed to spend a certain amount of money on players. So they can't pick 4 players with value €1000,-, €991,- €982, €973,-, because they won't have enough money for that. Also team captains will have to pick players by turn, so the higher skilled players will be picked first by each team captain.

This system will result in having teams with somewhat equal skills, IF the values on players have been done right.

Those names you mentioned aren't even the best players in the list .

Look out for astz!, frantic, sheano, scrmz, , ioX, frag^m, zzzeD, Aco-. Compared with these guys the names you mentioned are mid-skilled

But with a bit of luck you got one of those guys in your team, so don't sweat it
