Actually, my view on this was more from a programmer's and designer's side. You wouldn't believe the amount of preposterous requests I have received to write this or that mod in the past. Worse even... in some instances back in my weak days I was coaxed to concede... not to mention the abuse I started receiving once I got picky as to which requests to comply with.

Don't get me started on nostalgic while I'm listening to some C64 soundtracks
As for the double/dodgejump/blah, it's just as with ut2k4 that opinions couldn't differ any more. Some people like it, some hate it. But fact is, that with UT3 Epic has gone a step back player movement wise into the direction Unreal / UT used to be, thus pleasing many of the oldschoolers and at the same time earning the ut2k4 fanclub's dislike. You can't please everyone at once, and for that case mods are a good solution in theory. I leave it to everyone's opinion what's better though, simply playing the older/other game or modding one to better fit one's likings. There are pros and cons for both sides again....

in which case it would have been better if they had left it as a switchable option IMO.
I also wonder how many UT3 players also ever played UT1 ( and personally I don't find them that much the same tbh )...that is assuming one can even find UT3 players these days

I played UT, for about 10 seconds, after playing ut2k4. I tried to double jump and the other moves that are in ut2k4, but they were not there. I found it boring, and upsetting, that I could not double jump through the world.
I think that if the game has evolved backwards, than I shall never play it. Frank

yep up untill Christic showed me this one server i was very much the same opinion, in the meantime chatting to the others i have met it seems there are a number of other servers running freeze tag etc.
At any rate for me personally i am finding that servers where dodge jump it is activated is making the game interesting for me again, i am enjoying it atm so wtf.
To the otherside of the coin though, MANY servers running Warefare seem to be overrun by mods that totally ruin the game for me, so yeah it's hard to have everything u want
