play on widescreen

Post by }TCP{FeaR^ »

Okay, so a few days ago my pc refused to start up. probably cause of some bad cluster/sector on my C:\ drive, therefor I had to format my pc.
No problems occured.

Everything is installed again (except ts and a mic :p).
So...UT is installed aswell but I can't select any widescreen resolution in the settings.
Before my format adventure it was playing fine on 1920*1200 so why won't it now?

I've tried to fix it in "ut2004.ini"

Code: Select all

[WinDrv.WindowsClient]
WindowedViewportX=1920
WindowedViewportY=1200
FullscreenViewportX=1920
FullscreenViewportY=1200
However, when I start UT again, UT overrides it and puts it back to 1280*1024

Although it's strange to re-install things right after a format..
I still re-installed my GPU drivers and the 3369 patch.

Any other sugestions ? :D
(making the ini 'read only' doesn't help btw, it still shows up in 1280*1024)

Widescreen = Teh Suxxors :-)

Nah, first I'd check to see if your Windoze actually sees the monitor correctly. In 99% of all cases, monitors are recognized correctly if they are turned on while Windoze is starting up, telling your OS which resolutions it can do at which frequencies.

If for some reason it doesn't have your wide screen resolutions, try to uncheck the option called "display only modes supported by monitor" (or whatever its called) and see if you can set it.

If that doesn't work either, check for a monitor driver in the net, then try again.

Next on my list would be the driver control itself. Both NVidia and ATI should have options in their drivers that allow you to freely enter what custom resolution you want. That should really be your last call though.

I don't know what todo if Windoze accepts the mode but ut2k4 doesn't, though. Never had a widescreen, never will have one if I can help it.

Screen 1 was identified as 2...and vice versa
Perhaps this was the prob, cause after fixing it, UT stared in 1920*1200.

Meanwhile I was wondering why UT didn't save 'fav servers' but Mr. Coffee has brought me light..and caffeine...so now its time to un-check the read-only thing on that ini file :p

Thnx Wolf ^^

Mhh? Perhaps i don't understand the problem.
If you are using a widescreenie, you have to install it first and fix your prefered resolution. Then you call up UT2004, settings, video and change the graphic-settings.

I'm using a 1680 x 1050 resolution. It was no prob setting this reso under UT2004. Yeah! And it looks great. :D I didn't need to change any *.ini or *.inf files. :?
