I cant get UT2004 to run smoothly. I have an Athlon64 FX55 and a GeForce 6800GT and 1gig RAM, so apart from the g/card the PC is top end. The framerate doesn't drop much when I turn up the detail but even with the frames at 70+ it feels jerky all the time. If I play offline it runs better but not as smooth as Unreal1.
Whats the chipset of your motherboard.
I have in the past seen the same type of thing.
Came down to the fact the mobo didnt have enough bandwidth.
Also not a big enough psu has caused the same type of errors.
Do you have the same problem with any other modern game.(2003+)

its VIA one of those tweakable Abit gamers boards with a 500w psu
Via!
If its a 800 or 880 chipset then you should be ok.
This is equivalant to Nforce 2 chipset, but still alittle underspec.
If it is a Via 600,400 then that is your problem.
FX chips and 6800 use alot of power.
A very good make 600watt psu would be the lowest psu recommended
for such hardware.
You need to try other games, even if it just demos.
Frycry,Fear,HL2.
Or download Nvidias own demos....Luna...etc
