edit maps in 226

Post by }TCP{Cheiz »

Hi,

Why shouldt i make maps in 226 (read that in UnrealReference)? Dont they work in 224 or 225? And how is 225 with Direct3D because i want to make maps but also want to play. Or do i have to install unreal two times?

Bye,

Cheiz

just install patch 225 use glide wrapper :O and with maps download Unreal EdFix4 or somthing from oldunreal
the 225f is the patch where you can make maps and it works for all

ive never found out the real reason why mappers shouldnt use 226f, i just followed the advice of mr wolf and everthing seems to be fine:) and it seems that all players with all patch versions can join maps made with 225f, i installed unreal again and patched it to 225f and used the unrealed fix, this way it keeps everthing out of my client version of unreal..o yes i also renamed my mapping version . eg:- unreal225fed :)

If nothing wrong

A long time ago, there was a firm called 3dfx. This firm was producing graphic cards called VooDoo  And these cards had their own Application Programming Interface (API - something like OpenGL and D3D) called Glide.
End of the story.

BTW: Now 3dfx is taken over by nVidia.
Maybe this is why ATI's cards don't like Glide wrappers much :?

The reason is simple, your 226 maps will not work with versions before 226.

You can hex-edit them if you really have to to make them compatible again, but I keep forgetting the precise procedure. Also, I'm not 100% certain this incompatibility applies to 226f, but it definitely applies to 226b (gold). It's probably just safest to not use 226 at all for map making for that matter.
