This point me to one idea.

How it works now:
After respawn, you are under protection (if turned on) for some time, amount of disp shots and pickup. Opponent can anyway shoot you using 8ball making blow into the air, or constantly shoot asmd's combos don't killing untill protection is active but making unable to run away. Bots (new UTF addition) like shoot you after respawn very much too, and follow shooting constantly untill protection will be taken off and you die. Finnaly, you nicely glow wich makes you better visible as target. Is it what is protection for? Is it as usefull as should be?

How it could work:
You glow to indicate to others you are just respawned. Glow is taken off when you get any pickup (one! anykind, + 3 secs - don't know how much time is needed to reload weapon after pick up) or you shoot disp too much (3 times?). Glow remains all the time untill one of above two events happened.
So what kind of protection it is? Just one who kill such glowing player, let's say, is pushed (automaticly) to suicide :lol:
So it will be matter of this full armoured player to don't spawnkill because:
:lol: he doesn't get any point (frag + suicide = 0) :lol:
:lol: after suicide he is "naked" like spawnkilled player, equal chances :lol:
:lol: suiciding too often causes be kicked off from the server and banned :lol:
I understand that such improvement hardly force to play strictly fair and is discussible if UTF should have option to turn it off :lol: Anyway I think it is great idea and good improvement. More fair play, more nice players, less players dispirited, less players go out, more players stay. There are some (I don't like this word) noobs still. And if ppl will scary them and be scurvy, such players leave and move to other game and Unreal will die :cry:

i think thats far too drastic, just my opinion..

it wont be that hard (i presume) to set it up so that you arnt effected by any weapons at all during orientation, like u dont get blown away by asmd or eightball. one of my friends, skw, did it in coop. also, during the orientation phase, you should give players setspeed 1.5, to let them get away from any spawnkillers.


also, maybe a transparent window for text at the top of the screen? like the one in UT.note that im not talking about making unreal any more like ut, i thinkit would just be an effective addition.

Err I didn't even read all that...

From my observations the spawn protection works half way decent, and no bots DON'T shoot you while you are invulnerable.

Proof: addbots, type "god"... you will never be shot (unless bot is already in attack state after you).

The glow is one option, most people use the Texture on servers though...

Quite nice. It means, you don't wish to hear any ideas concerning your mod, right? Of course it's yours, so untill you think it's working well why to read all that long posts ppl write about.

No it means I believed to have recognized the problem as one presented to me beforehand which I had dismissed then and will now simply dismiss again because I don't see the problem.

Truth is, people CAN still spawnkill you if they want to, but there is no "patch" for the character of people, this is something that cannot be solved technically. The spawnprotection is meant to support avoiding accidents, not cure the problem entirely because that's impossible.

As for the "blow someone elsewhere while he's invulnerable" - yes I have noted that and sometime maybe I will come up with something...

Now...

instead of typing this long and useless answer and wasting my time because I had typed all of this already somewhere else but so long ago I forgot where I simply wrote "I didn't read all of this"... I'm so sorry that I'm --word edited out-- BUSY ALL THE TIME!
