map converter...

Post by Xavious »

im trying to use the map converter that..um..winged made i think, um anyways, i cant use it..the readme says to put the map converter (MC) into the maps folder, create a backup of the map u wanna convert, then run dosprompt/commandprompt. but it doesnt seem to want to run, i just et the command not found error.

why am i saying this? well wolf is on the thanks list so i assume he contributed towards it.. and can therefore help me out.

um..i think the problem is that the command to do what the readme is asking s different in windows xp, so what might the new command be?

If programs need parameters in a command line prompt these days, then dont use em.. We're in 2004 ffs :P
The only ppl using such things are hackers and ppl with 16 mb of ram :/

No clue what this is about, never seen any map converter. I wouldn't think I am in the thanks list, that's prolly someone else.

*******************************************************
ReadMe for 226f to 225f compatibility map converter
*******************************************************

- Extract the contents of this rar into your unreal\maps folder
- Make a backup copy of the map you wish to convert
- Run dosprompt/commandprompt
- Locate folder unreal\maps (example: "cd c:\unreal\maps")
- Type in the command:

Mc <mapname.unr>

where mapname can be the exact name of a map, or a '*' to indicate all maps.
NOTE: it doesn't support long names, so if you're sure you're entering the
correct name but the program cannot find the file just remember to
use the old DOS format (i.e. "mc Skaarj~1.unr")

example: "mc mymap.unr" will convert only mymap
"mc *.unr" will convert all maps

Once converted, the map should run well on both 224 and 225.
Anyway, there is one more optional step (recommended):

- Start unrealed and open that map you just converted
- Then just save it

CONGRATS!! Now you should have a map fit for 225f :)

AAhhh that one.... I get it now... oh yes I always do the conversion manually. However I thought there was only a problem with 226b (Gold) created maps, not 226f ones... well dunno.

I do 226b conversions on myself with a hex-editor, I wouldn't know what todo on 226f though.

If the command doesn't work maybe the exe is simply not found? If you copy the exe to C:\Unreal and then go to C:\unreal\maps to treat one of your maps, you of course have to use

..\mc [args]

instead of just

mc [args]

:P
