Haha lol, 190 Watts xD

I am at the lookout for a server for myself. Basically to put all my documents, pictures, family movies, tv-series, hd movies, etc on and keep a low idle watts. I might run a UT2004 server on it too, just for the fun of it :P.

Just waiting for the hdd prices to drop down just a bit more.

AM3 boards? There are tons... you need to be more specific what you are looking for. If you just need a solid low-cost entry board with NO sli and NO USB3 and NO other useless crap, I'd go for this 45 buck machine...

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM ... ifications

... if you need more features and stuff, you will need a lot of research what fits you best.

Acceptable gaming boards: Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and Abit if you can find any. Acceptable Server / Workstation boards: Asus, Tyan, minimum 200 bucks a board tho...

Stay away from boards with Intel network chips, or if you can't avoid those, have a network card ready, some onboard network chips from Intel are utter shit and must be deactivated before the board runs stable.

Stay away from ASRock and Dell. ASRock boards just die too fast, as for Dell, I hate them because of their past PSU ATX compatibility fuckups...

You want a NEW board because you believe there is a problem between your current ASUS board and your SSD???

What exactly are the problems / symptoms?

There is no good guarantee that a new board will solve your problem, simply because you -may- encounter the same chipsets on other boards as well.

If you are sure that nForce is to blame, you'll need to switch to an AMD chipset... here are two examples between 50 to 60 bucks... cheap boards are more difficult to find there...

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/M5A78L_LE/
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/870A-G54--FX-.html

But before you go there, check if a newer BIOS is available for your board, and if a newer FIRMWARE is available for your SSD.

Next, are you using AHCI? If not, you probably have speed problems with the SSD. Trouble is, if you switch on AHCI on an existing system, you might need to install from scratch. DON'T switch it on if your current system has been setup without it, but plan to reinstall at some point from scratch with AHCI on from on the beginning.

Next, check driver settings (cache on/off? write-through/back?) and switch on buffers if they are off.

Next, absolutely DO make sure there is a problem with your specific SSD and some boards or chipsets --- GOOGLE!!
