Changing Skin Overlay Colours Binds - TAM

Post by NightMan »

This is for Ramses but thought id post it rather then PM incase others want to use this. when using colour skin overlays somtimes some colours work better then others in certain maps. somtimes a bright white is too bright and a pink is better, somtimes a light blue is better then the pink etc. these binds will simply make it a fast way of changing colour overlays without having to go and move all the sliders.

The command to change colours is below

Setskins R G B R G B

R = Red, G = Green, B = Blue

The the first 3 colours, are the other team, and last 3 colours, are your team. if you dont use force brightskins to teammates and enemies then the first 3 colours are red team, 2nd 3 are blue team i think.

each colour is a number between 0 and 100, 0 means no colour, 100 means full. so like a slider bar 0 is at bottom, 100 is full right. so if you want Red overlay, R=100 G=0 B=0 etc.

so for Red/Blue overlays the command is
Setskins 100 0 0 0 0 100

for Green/Yellow overlays the command is
Setskins 0 100 0 100 100 0

My colour skins are
Cyan/Black
Setskins 0 100 100 0 0 0
or
Pink/Black
Setskins 100 0 100 0 0 0

so to create a bind for these is easy. will use the two i have atm, in game open console and type these 2 lines
Set input P Setskins 100 0 100 0 0 0
Set input O Setskins 0 100 100 0 0 0

or in your user.ini file it would look like this
P=Setskins 100 0 100 0 0 0
O=Setskins 0 100 100 0 0 0

so now press P to get Pink/Black and O to get Cyan/Black

replace P and O for which ever key you want, i use pageup and pagedown. you could also set up an alias so 1 keypress does both and switches between the two but thats another mini tutorial :P

hope thats helpful
~Night

note-this is a tam feature, not just a tamextra one so works on all tam servers

Yes thanks Nightman, very useful for me :D

Now all I have to do is to remember to set the friendly team to the same colour for both strips, otherwise I end up shooting them :shock: :lol:

lol, just set match hud to teamskins. that way your weapon bar is the same colour as your teams skin, so you shoot the other colour ;)

Here are the binds I use:

Cyan/Black
K= setskins 0 100 100 0 0 0

Pink/Black
L=setskins 100 0 100 0 0 0

Pink/Green
O=setskins 100 0 100 0 100 0

Green/Pink
P=setskins 0 100 0 100 0 100

If that is useful for anybody :)

i take it you know in tam there is a menu for this too? :P just checking :P you dont have to do it via this command, this is just quicker if you want to use more then 1 set of skin colours.

F5 is for UTComp, in TAM its the Home Key by default, or Menu3spn in console. but yeah its a similar thing. The TAM menu has similar features to UTcomp but there two different mods. you can adjust team skins the same as utcomp and force models, you can also disable adren combos like berserk so you dont do them by mistake when you want res etc.

Yea i know about that ( F5) NM :) But you being more or less beter at UT in Genaeral and stuff like that. That's why i asked my Question if it SkinColours woudl work on UT2K3 & UT3 ;)! But i m guessing if the Server has F5 option than it will work if im not mistaking :roll:

ohh you snuck in a post while i was replying, i didnt see that.

i do not think that command will work with utcomp servers at all so if its a F5 menu then this command wont work at all, its a TAM only command. so wont work on any other gametype never mind game itself.

for utcomp servers i think the command is SetFriendSkinColor and SetEnemySkinColor. so SetEnemySkinColor 100 0 0 sets the enemy skisn to red i think. that command might work with ut2k3 if its f5 option as its same mutator. couldnt say with ut3 as its a different mod prob coded by different people so might have different commands.
