Do games usually use DirectDraw then ? I always thought d3d would be some better thing than directdraw, which would be some desktop thing 
.It has to be something directx related at least since my videolan quite often now freezes on me when I use Hardware directX overlay output, but still works fine with Windows GDI output..But you cant resize the windows then, hell

Not exacly. DirectDraw is part of DirectX for 2D graphics acceleration. So if you run Unreal in software mode, you can get better performance turning it on. You can accelerate GDI too. Anyways, since Unreal works without problems in software mode, that means directdraw is alright ?
But then why does the directx directdraw test crash my computer ? ;_;
One day I'll just throw this whole thing outta the window and then jump afterwards to collect the bits..eating the bits.. this was even funny in 2 ways ;_;
