Banned from your servers ?

Hey guys it's me Eric. Some of you might remember me from a not so distant past :P.
I just tried to connect to the 12 player TAM/FREON etc server to play a feew matches with you guys , just to get a "You have been banned from this server" message. So did I anger anyone or did a phantom cause havoc in my abscence ?
Oddly enough my forum password doesnt seem to work anymore either.

I just checked and u do not seem to be in the ban list on the server :0 where u by any chance spectating at the time ?
I compared your ip on the forum to any banned on the server ( FH#1 that is)
And for the forum if u forgot ya pw just use the 'forgot password"link :)

It's your name that you used on that date. And these lines of the logfile state that the anti cheat software discovered disallowed files in your game directory which are part of a cheat. Therefore you were kicked from the server and I've added a ban later on.

Oh dear..
Iver certainly never used hacks of any sort ! Thats just lame.
Also Ive never gone by any other nick than ERIC-X.
But I have multiple people using my key.
I guess thats what I get for letting them use it..
The worst part about this is really being a hacker in your guys books because I always enjoyed playing with all of you.
But the files dont lie and I understand the situation..
tough luck for me I guess, really hoped we could have some games again :/.

That's exactly the reason why you should never give away your UT2004 key (another one is that it's simply illegal).

Until you were banned, the following names were used with your key:

Saying somebody else used your key is the most popular excuse, of course. :-P However, I'll discuss your case with the other admins and we'll see if you stay banned or if the ban will be lifted. In any case, we definitely don't want potential cheaters on our server, which should be clear to anybody.

Yes I see what I did was wrong but at the time I simply felt like it would be a selfish move to not help a friend when I could. But I see where it got me and its clear Im not pleased with this.
I can see how saying someone else used my key would be the typical excuse for this kind of situation so I just hope you guys beleive me in this.
I dont want to cause annoyance or even inconvenience with cheaters as I always viewed your servers as a place to have fun at and I always had a good time with the people in this clan and also made some friends.
I know its everything BUT your job to get things working for me again and I 100% see its my own fault for giving my key to someone else and that it was a mistake.
So I appreciate that this case even stands in discussion and that you give me a chance to begin with and am sorry that all this had to happen in the first place.

I believe I remember having seen you around before and personally I'd unban you, but then we would let the other punks with your key in as well, which would be undesired.

Since UT2k4 only costs like 5 to 10 bucks these days I'd recommend you pick up a new copy and book the price as "learning experience". On that note, NEVER buy a used key on eBay, it is probably sold because it is banned somewhere as well.

Also, people you lend keys to and then get you banned are not your friends. They're morons.

I will get a new key and hopefully have some good games with you guys in the future.
Im happy this was discussed and that Im not viewed as a cheating prick by you.

And yeah Wolf youre right. I wish I realised earlier though :)
