You seem to have made the easy riddle a lot harder by forgetting to mention the day(time) :P

After all its the maid, coz theres no mail on sundays and thats the only logical thing you can get from there :/

Or maybe it was the butler, because theres no "tabel" :O

4/5 of a cross, and a circle complete,
two semi-circles, and a perpendicular meet,
a triangle standing on two feet,
two semi-circles and a circle complete.

4/5 of a cross ? How do you make 4/5 out of a + ? :/

Circle complete is O :O
two semi circles on a perpendicular would be B :O
triangle on two feet would be A :O
two semi circles would be C C :O
and a complete circle O again :O

so its..OBACCO...Which leads me to TOBACCO, but that'd be 3/4 of a cross and not 4/5 :/

aha :O

This guy living on the 20th floor in an apartment building got up early each morning to go to work in a downtown store. He always went into the elevator on the 20th floor and rode down to the entrance (1st floor). When he came home he always rode the elevator from the entrance and up to the 8th floor. He walked out of the elevator and walked the stairs up to his apartment on the 20th floor.

Why don't he take the elevator all the way up to his apartment?

:P
