Problems with UT2004

Post by }TCP{Trønec. »

Hey guys, I have some major problems with my game!
Just started up my game and it wouldn't start, I just got the load screen on my desktop.
Rebooted my pc and the game started, however...
Everything is going in slow motion and the graphics look very very basic?

Checked my settings and everything is maxed out as supposed to... help???

Simple solution could be to use the windows restore function and restore the system to yesterday
or any other day it aws all dandy :D

No not drivers, I haven't done anything with my drivers since I got my new gfx card and installed the latest drivers on it. (about a month ago)
And everything was fine yesterday.

I'll try restoring.

If restoring does not help:

1) Is UT2004 the only 3D game affected?

2) Check your UT2004.log (in UT2004/System) for errors/warnings. Or post a link to a zipped version if you don't feel comfortable enough with that so that someone else can take a look at it.

Restoring did the trick!
@ Lilalurl: UT was the only game affected.

Anyone know what the problem is?
I've tried emptying my cache, but that didn't work.

And please, cut the funny "ha you cheater" jokes, cuz you all know me, and how I despise cheating =)

I have installed some enhanced security checks for FunHouse #4 yesterday. It seems like you're using modified versions of the following files in your System directory:
  • GUI2K4.u
  • XInterface.u
  • XVoting.u
Any idea where they come from? I know you're using the G15 keyboard from Logitech, which comes with a patch for UT2004. Is it possible that your versions of these files come from this patch?

Could you try installing the standard versions instead and see how it works? But backup your existing ones before installing them - just in case they're needed. I've packed my versions of these three files into an archive, so you can download them here.

In any case, you can find me on TS tonight, so we can talk and try it together if you like.

I'm using a G19, but indeed I have a patch for UT2004 for it.
I've copied your files over mine after I made a backup, but now I get a critical error every time I start UT.

I've thought of something, yesterday evening I joined this sniper camping server and they had some weird voting system where a team captain got to choose his teammates.
Could this have anything to do with it?

I don't think so, since you have cleared your cache. Could you please send me your versions of the files?

Yes, it's these files indeed. They're from the 3372 patch for Logitech keyboards. They add features like these:

I've added their MD5 values to the server config now, so you should be able to join again. :-)
