Well, the message means:
"There's no medium in the drive. Put a medium into drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR1."

Sorry, UT2004 never asked me for the CD after I had installed it. Maybe check your UT2004.ini for that path?

It's exactly the file I mentioned in my post as well: UT2004.ini in the System folder. Like I said, open it in your text editor and search for \Device\Harddisk1\DR1. Guess you'll find it then...

You can also search for Harddisk1 only, should be specific enough. ;-)

[path to ut2k4 install]\System\UT2004.ini

section
[Engine.Engine]

last line reads in that section reads "CdPath="

If you use 64 bit exe the ini file is ut2004-win64.ini not ut2004.ini.

There's a 64 bit executable of UT2004? Is it any faster on 64 bit systems?

Usually it should just be set to the drive UT2004 is installed on. At least that's the case with my installation.

I'm not quite sure but it's possible that UT2004 checks for the CDs the first few times you play it. In this case, the path should probably point to your CD/DVD drive. The game possibly changes the value to the harddrive location (as described above) later on.

Cd check is removed in the 3369 patch might even be removed earlier so should not be needed at all

Yes it is, however, it has a few quirks, and it may not always run better - it just USUALLY does ;-)

Known bugs of 64bit:
- hitsounds always same frequency (you cannot determine damage by sound)
- Alt-Return full screen on/off toggle does not work
- OpenGL gamma keeps resetting sometimes
- I prolly forgot a few things...

I got the best speed increases on my oldest gaming machine, a single core AMD which could suddenly play the game in very high detail without hitching, which was no where possible with the 32 bit version. The speed increase with my newer machines is not so noticeable. Also, one of the machines aparently has a faulty D3D driver which induces lag in 64 bit, so either run 32 bit when that hapens or switch to OpenGL - however, that happened only on one out of 4 machines so far for me.

If you cannot find the patch online, you can also get it from our archive at:
