I recently started renting a server from yesturday.
This server is for RPG Invasion ONLY.
8 player slots with 4 player spec. (12 slot server)
I would like to ask people to come and test the server out abit for me pls. The server is locked atm.
Still dunno how to get maps to work ffs, so its only got normal maps on it.
You can go under the map if you like, I dont care.
Oh yeh it says im the highest lvl player, I still need to sort it out.

It would be nice if you could give me some advise on putting new maps on.
I found out all the in's and out's of the webadmin and server admin.
Mutaters I got working.

So if you could tell me how to get maps working it would be nice m8.
Seems they show on the vote list, but when you vote em, the server goes to the default map.

Hey man,

First of all when u want costum stuff (like maps) on you're server, u need to compress them for an redirect server (the server people download from..NOT your gameserver..will cause lag..), so people download the compressed files, and will extracts those automatic when the download is complete (like u do on the other funhouse servers..)

U can find the program here (easy to use interface) http://download223.filefront.com/majubd ... mpress.zip It says its for ut2003, but it works same as for ut2004.

Make sure u compres also textures/meshes/system files etc (if that downloaded map has that..not all)

Carnage can fill u in for the redirect adres, im sure.

Ok I got the upload thingy.
Still no clue on how to use it and upload to my redirect server.

So I guess this works for all the mutaters as well.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but Im guessing that you unrar all the files, then place them into this thing and then upload them.?
If maybe someone could come on ts today and help me out, it would be perfect. Im a fast learner.

HAPPY DAYS:------ I just found a site for the server line for the halflife 2 monsters. Looks like I can add them again.

Ok back to topic. Yeh like I said if someone could jump on ts with me for about 30mins would be nice.

U compress the extracted map/textures/system files etc..of that map u downloaded with that ut2003 compress program..the compressed files of the ut2003 compress u put on the redirect server.

The map file(s) (.rar/zip) u extract those to the correct folders:
.ut2 files go in the UT2004\Maps folder
.u files go in the Ut2004\System folder
.usx files go in UT2004\StaticMeshes folder
.utx files go in the UT2004\Textures folder
.ukx files go in the UT2004\Animations folder

Cloud that program you shared with me does not work.
When I add a map the option to compres it does not work.

just set the ut2004 directory folder and then it is good to use
It does give me some odd error about a database thing .. but just click that away and it works like a charm

I use the UT 2004 compressor that comes with it. For example, open a command prompt, navigate to the System folder and type:

Code: Select all

ucc COMPRESS D:\files\*

This will compress all files in the directory D:\files.

If you don't have an own redirect server (most people don't, because it means you'll have to rent a second server with some webspace), you can as well use a public one. The benefit is that most of the files will already be on it.

Hmm, I just checked the ones I knew, but they seem to be gone already. You'll probably have to do some googling to find one.

I got a redirect server, but I dont know how to set it up ffs.

Any ól website will do
Just upload the uz2 files there and be sure to point the redirect to that location
for example : http://tcpclan.net/redirect
