You're telling me your drives will run even faster than they already do? How much (in real application effects)?
yes, a sata drive with NCQ enabled is faster than without. There might be some more professional reviews, but in short, I found this one:
http://mysite.verizon.net/res6pakd/ncq_ ... e_test.htm
The most important comparison is included: Loading UT2k4 took 20.56s with NCQ enabled and 22.16s without (an absolutely definite k.o. criteria for running disks without NCQ of course ;-) ).
Let's put our handbags down and say: NCQ is like a lil Porsche engine (Boxster S, 185kW) and without it would be a New Beetle engine (RSi, 165kW), ok?
Greetings, heinzi

Im running windows 7 (x64) here, very good os from microsoft.

Vista...needed alot patches to make it come a bit closer to the quality that windows 7 is atm..

Windows XP For alot peepz this os is holy, but if u need to update 1 day, get windows 7...its worth ur money imo. :)

I didn't like XP much either tbh, it was bloated with features I never use, likes to phone home, had a dumbed down disney feel to it, tells me I can't open folders on my own pc, hides lots of useful stuff and takes a lot of configuring to get it to work as I want it to  :P

I hope 7 is easier to safely configure without having to search through pages of google :)

Hehe yes I love Disney, genius with films and creating magic worlds to spark the imagination ... I just not keen when it is applied to an operating system

Thanks Cloud, for inforceing my opinion, that this is the jump that I want to make.

This is like the jump MS made from 98, to XP. Everything inbetween was just pieces to the better puzzle.

I think after Christmas, I will take the 7 and look at it a bit closer. TRhanks again. Frank

My personal favorite would be NT 4.0 style... but those days are gone :o A stable windoze in under 500 MB... ah...

Btw according to those test results, AHCI isn't all that much faster. It -is- faster yea, but to an extent not worth going all to that trouble for implementing it. When the next OS works with it, fine, if not, no bother either way.

I got the 32bit ultimate version of windows 7. Works just as good as XP for me here (2GB of memory).

Most of the time, bigger is better, but would 2 gig be good enough for the 32 bit win 7?
