Hi!

You can either use Fraps, which is a tool that can directly grab the 3D video output of your game (which will need extra processing power) or, which usually is the better way, record a demo within UT2004 and later convert it into a video. When using the second method, you can also make use of RypelCam, which lets you choose the camera path and orientation (e.g. you can follow a projectile from the moment is was shot until it hits a player, make slow-motion scenes, zoom, etc.).

movies in fraps become way to big when recording
it's actualy a desktop recorder can be used for anything

ryplecam is a great tool in ureal itself
this tool in combination whit after effects and some other programes (wich i forgot atm)
can give you great movie's

unreal can change .demo file's to .avi file's by itself
no other tool needed for that

Nice, thank you both for the information ^^

most desktop redorders are laggy , they seem to run at a low frame rate. so i wont use one of those.

doesnt matter if the file is big , its going to be edited and compressed anyway *Wiggle* However , the frame rate should be at least 24fps it has to flow , i'm not making a stop motion movie ^^ *wiggle*

quote party "ryplecam .... for that" (didnt wanna type too much, read his post if you want to know exactly *wiggle*)
That sounds as something i can use , i'm a little femiliar with after effects and premiere so thats not gonna be a problem. *wiggle* it would be nice if the resolution is good. but could you tell me how it works ?

1st - fraps99 is by far the most lag free desktop recorder out there atm wich is free
but the files it makes is like 30 sec video = 1 gig

@ ryplecam i gotta find the right video
that has been made whit this tool
wich also tell's what other programes he used to create such a nice movie

and if you put a demo file on your 2nd comp and open it whit unreal
you can checkout ryplecam allrdy
i got it installed on that comp
i'll gather info links and downloads this week
i'll bring them next weekend

i'm kinda busy till fryday whit school, work and driving exam
so i don't rly have time to ceck it out now
but i guess coco knows some more about it 2
and i know marwin has been busy whit ryplecam also

If you want a good demostration of what can be achieved with RypleCam check out Finnish it movie --> http://www.own-age.com/vids/video.aspx?id=7066

This movie was made at the height of UT2004 back in 2005 with alot of the top players of finland. Movie shows very nice editing and alot of great frags. Every ut2004 player should have seen this movie ;)

Maybe it gives some ideas for your own project.

Hi!

You probably mean this one?
http://www.blazter.net/tdw-movie.htm

We had a couple of such movies in the YouTube thread some time ago. Should be around here and here.

hehehe ^^ loads of movies *Wiggle*
i cant even seem to get ryplecam working right.
the readme in the download told me to put the file in my ut - system file , change the user.ini file and after that told me :
" Getting started:
Open a client or serverdemo, hit 'ESC' twice and then 'H'. After that hit 'I' for
a short introduction.
A tutorial can be found on www.RypelCam.net in the Library Section. But you will find most of the information you need in this readme and the ingame text. "

This all seems nice but the esc esc H , I combo wont do anything *Wiggle*
i dont realy know what i am doing wrong, than again i dont realy know how to make a serverdemo either *wiggle* but i've been trying it in a "listen" game and in the normal bot tournement game.
anyone know what i am doing wrong ? *wiggle*

thanks in advance *wiggle*

Hi!

Sorry, I'm very short of time at the moment. I also had some problems with RypelCam at first, but got it working then. Can't quite remember, but I will look into it again.

Concerning demo recording, simply do a forum search for demorec and you'll find a small instruction I once made.

thanks allot ^^ i'll try

edit *Wiggle*
found it in general, i'll post it again couse its pretty usefull information ^^ *wiggle*

By Coco:
"P.S.: @magic: Create a subfolder called Demos inside your UT2004 main directory and put the *.demo4 file in there. When you open the game, go to Community and then click the Demos tab above. The demo will be listed in that menu. However, you will need all the files from the server to watch it (especially the map itself). They probably reside in your cache already. If not, you should play that map for once and will be able to watch the demo afterwards. There will also be a text at the demo selection menu, telling you if you have all required files or, if not, which ones are missing. "

i'll try it out tonight ^^ *wiggle*

U need some basic settings to get a good quality of your frag movies.
Set in your user.ini file the [Engine.DemoRecDriver] entry to this values.

Code: Select all

[Engine.DemoRecDriver]
AllowDownloads=True
DemoSpectatorClass=UnrealGame.DemoRecSpectator
MaxClientRate=30000
ConnectionTimeout=15.0
InitialConnectTimeout=200.0
AckTimeout=1.0
KeepAliveTime=1.0
SimLatency=0
RelevantTimeout=5.0
SpawnPrioritySeconds=1.0
ServerTravelPause=4.0
NetServerMaxTickRate=60
LanServerMaxTickRate=60
NetServerMaxTickRate tells u how much frames per second u ll get on your demo, if u want a good quality set it to 60, independet if your graphic card can handle this or not!

If u want to ercognitise your demos exactly set the [DemoRecording]
entry to:

Code: Select all

[DemoRecording]
DemoMask=Demo%d%t%p%m
That means it automaticly add day, time, player and map.

More laters............

I dunno what quality u want of your movie, i know 3 way to make a movie.

1 important thing i forgot to say: 98% of good frag movies made in the game mode DM not TAM.

I think its cause u can have better runs in Dm as in Tam.

Marwin

and Tcp havent a DM server. Maybe we can add it on Fh #4 (i would choice TDM)?
I play sometimes on the Six Server Tdm and its funny, cause u can play without a spec break if u r dead like in Tam.
