styles of playing.

Post by Wigglebottom »

Good morning everyone *wiggle*

It came to my attention that everyone has their specific style in playing. I Thought it would be nice to evaluate who plays in what manner. Of course this differs per map / match but there are always some specific things you like best or do allot. *wiggle*

This information will be useful to me for getting an overall view of the clan and will give me a basis for my tactics. This way I can use your individual tactics, merits and flaws too its full extent ^^ *wiggle*
Of course I am not forcing anyone to do this so if you think its not useful or you’d rather keep your playing style a secret your free to do so.
Well I guess I’ll start.

Wiggle’s merits: starting to get the hang of the lightning gun. I’m Training this to be better for long range. I have a pretty high luck rate. Love to disorient or fool the enemy. Motivated to take people with me while I get shot. Wiggle is good at jumping out of lava in Freon.

Wiggle’s flaws: pfew, where to start….owyeah, I talk allot and get killed while doing that. Forget that I have to jump away from bullets. Have a natural allergy against green and blue weapons (like bio and shock). Sometimes play a bit too wild wich results in shooting teammates and falling from high places or into hot places.*Wiggle* Furthermore wiggle hates swimming. I get lost in big maps.

Overall tactic’s: as an aggressive player I usually I’d rather charge than retreat. I divide damage rather than taking someone out. This is because I am used to playing Freon. And in my opinion killing someone at the start is less useful than giving them low health.*wiggle* Another thing is that I try to disorient my opponents. Sometimes I jump into their ranks so that their focus will be on me, and not the team. I still need to work on my mid range battles. Shocks are scary and will take me out fast. I usually use a flak against the shock because it can make the shock core go boom if I hit it with alt fire. Usually you will find me at the other side of the map than where I started out with the exception of a few maps. I also love lifts.

If someone wants to give me some advise on playing feel free to do so ^^ *wiggle*

Lol. almost fergot about this post. does't matter Taz and nms, i know how both of you play *wiggle*
it was pretty easy to figure out fighting against you two. you both play like gods, and the only chance i have against that is trying to sneek up on you and get close , once you see me i'd be...well dead , but if i would survive i'd have to jump over ya to try and confuse ya *wiggle*
thats the only tactic i could think of fighting against you both :P it doesn't kill ya but it keeps me alive a little longer ^^;
strangly enought the trick doesnt work as well on other people. probebly got something to do with how fast ya turn *Wiggle*

If people want I can compile a list of general tips on how to play ut2k4 and how to improve your own style in the most efficient way (movement, different ways of aiming, prediction, general tactics, etc). In other words, the philosophy of playing ut2004 :D.

Currently got exams, but after next week I got 10 days free of college, so got enough time to put some effort in such a "project". Members only offcourse ;)

whold be rly nice ^^
there probably will be some usefull tips in it

but there are more ways to play then 1
for example you (nms) and taz are allways staying on the background sniping people
trying to get away befor a enemy can get close to you

while others just rush forward and start spamming from long range allrdy
some others rush forward trying to stay out of sigt from the enemy
and then instandly get close to them mainly 1st a bio and then the rox and flak come out

and there are people that stay @ there spawn points or find a good starting spot as fast possible
then 1st gonna snipe some and when the enemy comes close
they hide behind something (or not) to load up rox and start the close combat fighting

none of these general tactics are rly bad, they are handy on there own points
whitout the rushing groupe and the people that stay after sniping
people like you wont be able to stay on the background that long

edit:
after a topic kick of 1 month this topic might get usefull ^^ =P

I wasn't referring to ways of playing, but just some general tips you have to keep in mind while playing the game. Obviously everybody plays differently opposed to others and I won't say something like : "you have to play this way or else you won't become good!" :P

There are just some general principles that are usefull to keep in mind while playing the game. Like different ways on how you can aim, movement through a maps aswell as movement in combat (both are very different), being unpredictable (both in map-movement as in combat-movement!), using the right gun in the right situation (idealy speaking offcourse).

Stuff like that, not things like: stay behind and snipe, or go rush in and go blast enemy away. Thats just personal preference on how to play the game. I'm talking about the more basic terms or general way of how to play the game.

Tonight on TCP.
An NmS exclusive!

Taz is better than me.
Taz is an immigrant.
Therefore, immigrants are better than me.
At least, that's my logic when playing. ;)

Surprisingly *cough* I figuratively play on 95 % intuition and 1 % rational thought. (That's bad.)
But I come with a free froghurt! (That's good.)
The froghurt is also cursed. (That's bad.)

Playing on feeling or intuition is good till a certain point. You have to be aware tho, that you don't fall into playing on automatic pilot - not really thinking about what is happening and what you should do, you just do stuff.

You see this alot with people their movement while in combat, they just dodgejump from left to right without any reason, they are just dodging. And then they ask me afterwards howcome I hit every rocket I shoot at them. Well thats because they are predictable in their movement, they don't dodge to avoid the rockets, they just dodge from left to right without reason. You should dodge in close combat to avoid getting hit. It's not rocketscience, but people tend to forget the meaning of the need to dodge and move in close combat.

Anyway, I'll work out some stuff next week when im free.

That is a good point. I am not good, because I choose not to be. :P

I think in the game, and still can not hit a damn thing. If you have some good points on aim, send away.

That's where the remaining 4 % come in (Luck). ;)

I remember reading some philosophical points on the subject of improving ones skills (*finds bookmark*), which seemed reasonable:

Hints and tips are always welcome *Wiggle*
I have been trying to remind myself not to run into the enay at full speed in the start but it's still very tempting.
Also been shooting more with the lightning gun. its starting to hit people ^^ *wiggle*

60% luck is nice thoug , wish i had that *Wiggle*
i have to make do with 30% wigglyness, wich helps in some situations.
