lag problems
I have a problem with lag. I start the game, and all is well for awhile, then I start to lag, and it gets to be so bad that I get single pictures. I have to reset, and then it is ok for a couple of minutes, but then it lags again.
I have Kapersky running, but I had that running b-4 I reinstalled my computer. It seems like something is building up in the background, and then I can not do anyting anymore. Anyone have a clue? Thx in advance, Frank

Hi Snowbird,
i've some question:
- Do you use W-Lan or Lan for connecting to the Internet?
- How fast is the Internet speed by your ISP?
- How fast is the connection really? (You can test it under: www.speedmeter.de).
- Is your harddisk running full?
- How about any notes in the device-manager?

I have a lan connection, and I know what you are getting at. I just reinstalled my computer, and the device manager has a few "MS-Bugs" in it, but I turned those off. Krabbel has the same provider as I do, and he is next door, and he had no problem last night, so it was definately my computer that is the problem.
I have never had this problem like this b-4, so I am not really sure what it could be. I used to use a virus protection program awhile ago, that would build up in the task manager, because it was constantly checking the internet while I was playing, but I do not have that anymore.
I think Ches, Mar, and Rams are on the right track. Maybe I have an old driver in here somewhere.
I will look for the problem and try to get it strightened out. Just when I was haveing fun again.
If anyone has a program that checks the temp, I would like to download it. I had one once, but do not remember what it was called..... Thanks in advance....again.
Frank
Oh and BTW, Skarj, thanks for the link. I used that a few times and liked it. Also computerbild.de also has one.

I had the "Building LAG" again last night. I am not sure where it is coming from, but I was able to get my task manager up, and I saw that the file "avp.exe" was extreamly large, and getting bigger. I sut the game off, and it decreased in size. I am going to go this route and see if I can find something. Wish me luck.
EDIT***
Well, it looks like I got another one!!! I have a trojan again. Even with out looking at Pron!!! I may do it again, and reformat. Cya soon guys and gals.
BTW, I still have my laptop, and I think it is still clean.

Sometimes I get so anoid at the thought, that I can not see the nice things in life, like Java, and use the Cookies. I left everything open and am useing JAVA. It looks like I did catch this from either JAVA, or from DL'ing clips from the net. I know!!! I know!!! DL clips is one of the worst things in the world, but I am useing Kapersky, and it has caught "most" of my garbage so far. I used to use AntiVir untill I got a virus, and then went to Kapersky. I think I will go back to AntiVir and see what happens. I am trying guys, but as it looks, I am out of gaming again. DEPRESSED FRANK says, "SIGH!!!"

Hi Snowbird,
I suppose you know this already, but some people reading this threat surely don't:
Before using java, flash, downloads etc. you could log off your admin account and log on as a restricted user. Applications have the same rights as the user starting them. If you catch a virus as a restricted user, windows won't allow critical system changes; usually, that is necessary for the virus to install itself, so it will be kept out. While doing this, I didn't have any virus probs for years now.
Another "safer surfing" would be within a virtual machine. If there's any virus on the virtual machine, just delete this VM and start a new one

Hi Frank!
There's a simple solution: use Firefox, together with NoScript and CookieSafe!
You can surf the whole web without Javascript, Java and Cookies allowed. Whenever a site doesn't work like it's supposed to, you can activate Java/Javascript or Cookies with one single click! You can even do it temporarily and just for the domain that requires it. For example, you can allow YouTube, but keep doubleclick.net forbidden. Very nice!
Coco.

@ laboRHEinz, Thanks for the tip. I have read about this trick, but never used it. I really never had a problem b-4. I am thinking of useing the virtual machine.
@ Coco, I have been useing Firefox for years now, and really like it. I do have my cookies enabled, but that is going to change now.
I hope that I am on vacation next week, and then I can really sit down and get my computer to wherfe it should be. Thanks guys for the help.
