Good luck with it, Marwin. It is about time for me to Format c: also, and get the old rig a new G-card. Thanks to Mr. Wolf, I have enoough space with my new hard drive, but the grafic card and the processor are too old. I will have to take alook at it in the winter.

I thought my Mainboard or my CPU is crashed, but it was only the floppy drive. LOL. How the hell can a crashed floppy cripple a hole PC? Anyway it works now without the floppy drive.

Hi!

Maybe the BIOS halted due to floppy not found?

Coco.

Or you got a short.

I was working for a small shop during my first internship at university, and one day my boss came to me with a customer's computer and told me:

"This Pentium PC doesn't work right, fix it."

Right... not much to go on, but it was very obvious that the PC was slooooooooow ass. It appeared to work all right, but Windows 98 took like 10 minutes to load, and even the DOS command prompt displayed one letter at a time - I could almost type faster than DOS printed stuff on the screen - hehe ALMOST.

I checked everything... but the one thing I didn't check until last (of course) was the floppy drive, because nowhere in hell did I think that could have had anything todo with it.

At the time I (more or less accidently) had that disconnected, I had wasted over a whole workday trying to install / reinstall DOS / Windows and numerous other hardware parts... suddenly the Pentium was as fast as lightnight - or at least as fast it was SUPPOSED to run - and all that was different was, that I left a few parts unconnected because I needed the space to operate...

When I found it was the floppy drive I was like WTF!

So... repairing the PC was as simple as tossing out the old drive and installing a new one, but of course that was on day 2....

I had the same expieriance (OMG, my english is FU__ed ) with Krabbels computer a couple of years ago. As soon as the floppy was disconected, it worked. He is still trying to get me to put a new one in, but I refuse, because he does not need one.

Oh, BTW, he told me yesterday, his Unreal is makeing his computer crash, so I need to fix it again. :)
