Monitor size

Post by [COCO] Transpulsar »

I am thinking about a new Monitor. My question now is what size? Is 19" enough?

Hi!

This depends on what you want to do with your computer. In case you need precision (which is also relevant for UT, of course) bigger is always better. On the other hand you need more room on your desk and bigger displays will consume more power.

Personally, I think 19" should be fine, but I know some are playing with 22" or even 24" displays (I got 15" btw. :-P).

I got a 19" monitor but I play on 1024*768 resolution ingame. Doesn't really matter imo what size screen you buy for gaming, aslong as it displays all the action correctly (no tearing, ghosting, etc).

If you wanna play high resolution and uber high details, then a bigger screen might be something for you. Otherwise 19" shud do the trick. But thats my personal opinion.

Hey you both 22" freaks! Whats about the system? I have a 8800 gt and a dualcore 3gig, but i am not sure if a 22" is not a bit to much for that?

And there is another question: 4:3 or 16:9 ?

on maps like morpheus it rly helps to have a big screen

last time i had to wait befor magic shot me to know where she was cause i played on a way to small screen (16) (friends house) and even after she shot miss i needed a other shot to actualy know where she was hiding cause while i was looking the right way i couldn't see her (she was on top middle clearly in view)

It works fine on mine in widescreen now ... on most maps anyway, I occasionally get screen lag on Taz's corner in Cheops (I think, the one with the lift jump to the central platform). I used to get lag in specific places on several maps but I updated the nvidea driver and now it's 99% good.

screenresolution and monitorsizes!

Post by steff »

transpulsar <--- moin - great topic ;o)

[here's the technical description.. of a graphic designer lol]

YES ut2k4 works great on a widescreen display!

i'm playing ut2k4 on [one] of my 23" cinema displays [apple] - and it works great!
the max. screen resolution on ut2k4 [..could be depense on my mac version ut2k4 and on my screensize] is 1920x1200. and this resolution makes sense on max. quality on a 23" display - y?

take a look @ this:

p.s.: there u can download an exel document to calculate ur own size.. ;o) hf
