For ppl who think it's boring..try nnscript
this one looks better than the normal irc versions.
its just somewhat more complicated cause all the extra options, leave them if you're an irc noob :p

Hi!

Hmm, I think this was a typing error. He must have meant ICQ. At least that was what I tried to get him to. :-)

I'm sad that you're having trouble to get Trillian running, Benator. All I can say is that it works very well on my PC and on those of all my friends. And it is definitely better than having the original ICQ, AIM, MSN and whatever clients running - in memory usage, cpu time consumption, advertising and spyware aspects. So I hope you'll get it running! Ah, and even if it might not be responsible for it, you'd better get rid of that Norton thing. ;-)

I never really liked IRC. I rather use ICQ / Trillian. But the uses are not exactly the same where IRC is mostly public chat and ICQ mostly person-to-person.

At the moment.. Q, a quakenet-server-bot has kicked all users off channels if they are not authed. I'm authed on the tcp channels, however I got kicked off #php etc. I think they're messing around and can't have too many users online.
Normally they'd do some kind of global message telling you they're about to do things...but if they did a global I just missed it :p

hope this helps some =)

For those of you having problems with Trillian or hate it, or for those who have more then 1 Messenger program running you can always try this.

This is a nice alternative, however, the encryption (via plugins) is incompatible with Trillian's (no big surprise here). Thus, private IM is not possible between different clients.

When I have some I'll try to make a nice list with some clients ^^. Perhaps I'll make a new topic of that, together with the introduction of our new channels =)

Time for a recommandation then :D

mIRC
NoNameScript
X-Chat
BitchX
Irssi
Kopete

For windows users I'd say get mIRC or nss (NoNameScript)
difference: mIRC is empty..no scripts. nns is LOADEDDDD!!
Just find our yourself whether you like extra, unnesesary, stuff or just a clean one like mIRC.

For mac that'll be X-Chat. I'm not a mac-guy can't tell ya more :p

for linux I'd say X-Chat, BitchX Irssi and Kopete.
I've NOT tried them myself. I only know that X-Chat has a nice interface aswell as Kopete.
Never seen BitchX but while being on irc I've seen its name a countless of times with some positive line with it. Cant be bad that way right?
Irssi is...clean? no good interface..no nice graphical sh*t.
Mostly I've seen its name in script-related channels and I gotta agree..
If you don't like any cool grapical things this might be the right client

plugins/scripts etc:
mIRC and nns support 'msl' which is Mirc Scripting Language (its extension is *.mrc).
for dll-experts, you make it run *.c too (compiled)

Most of mac and linux clients support perl, python and tcl

Just google for them..easy enough to find
