Funmatch vs CCG
Hi guys,
We have no Onslaught war programmed for this week and a few new members willing to play... What about a funmatch, Ons 5v5 or 6v6 on your server (or ours if needed) this Sunday night (June, 15th) at 21h00 ? 2 or 3 maps, we can decide later.
Let me know what you think, if you have enough peeps, I'll gather our troops .
Gotta go for a few hours but I'll check answers tonight.
Cheers,
Frankie

Hi Eureka!
I will see what I can do for you, but I'm not sure if I can gather 5 or 6 ONS peeps till Sunday (we usually don't plan matches in such a short period).
However, it largely depends on how soon the players in question will read the forum. So don't expect to have an answer before Thursday.
We would have to play on your server, because our server is running the Freon madness on Sunday evening.
Coco.

Hi Frankie!
So far we have 4-7 players for Sunday (that means 4 for sure, maybe 3 more). So we will accept the match on Sunday.
The following questions have to be decided now:
- How many maps will we play (suggestion: 3)?
- What's the scorelimit (suggestion: 3)?
- Will there be any special rules/mutators (like "no redeemer", for example)?
- Overtime starts after how many minutes and how long will it last?
- IP and password (non-public, of course) of the server?
- Spectators allowed (anyone / clanmembers only / none)?
- Choice of maps? Each clan chooses one and we agree on a 3rd for possible tie-break (depends on the mapcount, of course)?

Good that you write it different from mine. Call me Franky....
I would be there, and would love to have fun with you guys, but I now have another problem. I got a metal splinter in my eye, and can now only see blurred images. I hope to be healthy again in a few days. My work at the other house is coming to a norm, where I can take a few hours off.
I would like to watch this match, if I may?

Sorry for late reply...I didn't receive any automatic mail about new posts on this thread...?
Gotta run and be back this evening but here's the answers I can give
-3 maps ok (one ccg, one tcp, one we all agree upon- "a classic" one)
-each map 2 rounds maximum. Victory before overtime = 2 points, otherwise 1 point
-clanbase rules/mutators...no deemers etc
-overtime = clanbase rules....i think it's 10 minutes before countdown starts
-ip should be 62.67.42.167:7777 ; pw I can give it to you later
-no specs (this can be discussed if someone really wants one, after all its a friendly match)
Laterz,
Frank
PS : take care Frankie

Hi Frankie!
Hmm, I'm not familiar with the ClanBase rules (yet). Are there any other mutators except "No Redeemer"? Also, 10 minutes before overtime starts seems a little short to me (but isn't a problem, of course).
Do you want classic (standard) maps only? Or can we pick a custom one from the Funhouse server, too (you should know them anyway)?
Concerning spectators: I know many clans don't really like to have them. But as you know, our clan is quite big and I can imagine some would really like to see the match. On the other hand, there's always the danger that someone tells his clan about the enemy operations (via TS, etc.). So maybe, it would indeed be better to play without spectators.
I just have an idea. We could have it like this: Every spectator must join a common TS channel. This way he couldn't instruct his team verbally, unless someone is taking major efforts (like two microphones, etc.). Would be ok for me, because, as you said, it's just a friendly match. Just tell me what you think.
It would be nice if we could test your server before starting the match there (so we would need the pw). Can you say where it's located? We have some players from the south of Germany and even Austria and Portugal. If the server is in Scandinavia, they might have a high ping.
Edit: I just made a traceroute and found that the server seems to be located in Frankfurt/Germany. I just have 3 hops to there from my ISP's net (1 to your hoster's net). So it should work well for me.

a) Clanbase is basically no super weapon, and then they have some weapon racks/vehicles customizations on certain maps (primeval for example doesn't have any spiders and the shock rifle is only available in base, whereas side nodes have lightning guns, stuff like that...other maps like crossfire for example are more "standard" - I don't think it has been modified at all since the original game)...the best thing to do is to try them on our server which has the "Clanbase ready" maps (its empty most of the time so it's just about voting).
You can see the CB rules (including server settings and map list) at this address :
http://clanbase.ggl.com/rules.php?lid=2094
but its not restrictive, if you wanna play with super weapons, just let me know, I'll ask our admin if he can fix it by tomorrow...
My suggestion : we play with the Clanbase rules (except for map choice - see point c) and spectators - see point d)) so discussion goes faster. Ok for you ?
b) 10 minutes is not much but if we play 6 rounds and they all go to overtime (which could happen) and you add this the waiting for the checks in between matches, it could take 1h30 - 2h until we're done so it's probably reasonable but we can change that if you want, I also think 15 minutes (clanbase standard is 15 minutes but we only play 4 rounds) would be better, its just about how much time will everyone have...
My suggestion : 15 minutes before overtime : ok for you ?
c)No problem with a funhouse map, you'll just have to send it to me by mail or so so we can put it on the server in advance (and also if there's super weapons in the map, whether you wanna have them or not - see point a)).
My suggestion : no problem if we play one or two or three funhouse map (we haven't decided our maps yet), but we play them without the super weapons since it's not part of CB rules (and usually makes the game more fair) Ok for you ?
d)Regarding spectators : I don't know what's best really, since its a fun war, i think spectators should be allowed to have part of the fun too but it's inevitable that they might help through TS...but if we do, we shouldn't have more than two spec slots (one for each team) so the server doesn't go nuts (maybe it's already too much, I'll have to ask). No need for me to have them logging to a common TS channel...if they wanna help their team, they can do it, it's probably not gonna make a big difference in a 6v6 chaos and if each team has a spec commenting, well it's like having a coach, I don't mind it too much (I wouldnt want it in 3v3 but 6v6 is kind of ok - note this is my opinion only, but I'll convince the guys its ok if you decide to have them).
My suggestion : You decide if you want specs or not.
e) I don't know where the server is located. You could be right about Germany although the admin is in Hungary and Im in Sweden...we also have people from all over Europe so some pings might be better than others, not much we can do about this...
f) Do you already have chosen your map ?
g) Could you make 3-4 suggestions for the common map choice and we would pick one of them (or we do it the other way around if you want) ?

Hi Frankie!
Most of this should be ok for us. I'm currently waiting for comments in our member section. Await my definite reply (as well as a map dl link in case we pick a custom one) tomorrow before noon.
Coco.

Hmm, it might be empty, but it's still passworded. So no chance to try it!Frank.Sinatra wrote:...the best thing to do is to try them on our server which has the "Clanbase ready" maps (its empty most of the time so it's just about voting).
