I personally using an Intel based system too.
But i've made BEST experience with AMD systems last few years!
Just the 939 socket, better the AM2 socket based systems are running great.
With some knowhow in wise overclocking you can build up a stable and high performance system for a low price.

Honestly I think both of those systems are quite expensive. Do you really need a new monitor? What's wrong with the old one? I thought just your computer died, not your entire inventory...
Also speaking of money, it's not just the price of buying, but also what those beasts consume by electricity (Intel is way better in that respect at the moment). I'm setting up a new computer as well, around an AMD 64 x2 5400+. The next larger CPU consumes a LOT more energy which is primarily the reason for me NOT to go higher, same for the new graphics card, I've picked the fastest passively cooled existing, the popular 8800 series was ruled out very quickly from my list of choices, although if it has to be an 8800 I'd follow Pitbull's advice and take the special edition which is slightly overclocked... forgot precise model... can look it up or Pitbull could post it if curious.
A case for 99? Why not one for 10,-?
oh.... and I paid less than HALF of both of these systems. But... that's just me

I would rather choose Intel over AMD nowadays.
The systems are quite nice for the rest. You may want to check out the GeForce 9 series cards to see how the price/performance ratio is there. (9800GTX should be even faster than 8800GTX)
The motherboard is quite expensive; but the intel x38 chipset is quite a good one.

NEVER! Never for offical. Your prices magic are real. Perhaps you can spare the one or other EUR, but that's all.magic wrote:...Wolf you said you payed less than a HALF of both these sytems...
Maybee wolf is buying directly of the lorry.
And why buying an expensive overclocked 8800 GTX? You can overclock the GC with offical nTune-Software from nVidia.
And for heavens sake - no passive cooled gaming GC!
You must invest a crowd in case cooling, otherwise you don't get away the high temperature of the graphic card.
Normal Temperature of an UNoverclocked and Active cooled 8800 GTX after 2 hours UT2004 is rising up from 70 to 78 degree! How about the temps in an Passive cooled 8800 GTX after 2 hours gaming?

LOL I didn't say I bought a passively cooled GT 8800, because such a model does not exist.
And buying a slightly overclocked (by design) GT 8800 means it is already MEANT to be slightly overclocked WITHOUT having to manually tune the crap.
Lemme dig up the details....

Pitbull's GFX card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130319
my new system:
1 x AMD Athlon64 X2 5400+ 2x2800MHz 2x512kB AM2 Box 87,80 € 87,80 €
1 x Kit 2x1024MB Exceleram DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 Heatsink Blue 2-2... 35,85 € 35,85 €
1 x 512MB Sapphire Radeon HD3850 Ultimate FuRe T2xD PCIe 139,48 € 139,48 €
1 x Netzteil ATX Enermax Liberty 500W ATX 1.3 83,36 € 83,36 €
1 x Asus M3A AM2 AMD770 FSB 5200MHz PCIe ATX 61,13 € 61,13 €
1 x Cooler Master Hyper TX 2 - Intel/AMD 18,59 € 18,59 €
I could have lived wihtout the HEATSINK / FAN actually, it was just a joke because somebody said I should buy a bigger one so it's silent. The boxed CPU comes with heatsink / fan so I actually WASTED 18,-
I use an existing case and an older 250 GB IDE (not S-ATA) Samsung harddrive, so those I did not have to buy. There are nice cases for around 20,- already though.
TOTAL: 426,21 €
no shipping costs, because I bought at mindfactory which do not charge when shopping at night

The pc wolf made.. has nearly the same game power as the intel and amd systems have that you made magic..
You're only playing ut and possibly ut3 with it...
But assuming you might want crysis I'd say
Buy a good case.. good cases are important unlike what wolf thinks..
Expensive cases keep ur pc cool, they do that much better than a normal case.. and nowadays pc's are so high end they need the cooling..
I'd go with an 8800GTS 512Mb for gpu.. or check out the new 9 series..
Also.. i've you have money.. you coudl buy the 3870x2.. it's a dual core gpu.. buy this and you can run crysis max settings.. and score about 60 fps.. wich for crysis is very very high..
as for cpu.. buy either the amd 5000+, or a quad core..
or go with an intel 8200 cpu..
ram should b 2 gb for xp.. 4gb for vista.. but vista sux so if u use vista u fail at life..
the rest is up to you...

Of course, Chesire, but it doesn't have to be a Coolermaster or Thermaltake, because you pay the name on those too.
I give you an example, the 3R system model R220 is one of my favorite midi towers, unfortunately, it no longer is in production. I owned 2 of those and was stupid enough to give one away.

You can mount 2 fans at the back, 2 (or 1 big) in the front where the harddrives are, and one sideways where the CPU is (comes with the case!!!).
The HD rack allows for 3 or 4 drives. It's a light case, so unlike a Chenbro, Thermaltake or Coolermaster I wouldn't stand or sit on it and expect it to remain in shape, but I had a server in one of those and it always stayed as cool as ice even when under full pressure. And here's the thing: the price was 31,50 Euros (date: 2006-07-13), add in 2 or 3 extra fans if you have to and you are around 50. That's still around 50% the price of the Thermaltake equivalent WITHOUT THE EXTRA FANS.
All I am saying is, keep your eyes peeled and you will find one that is a lot cheaper but just as good. Thermaltakes are good, no doubt, just overpriced.
