Training
I took part in tonights training (20/02/2008)
Firstly i hope i did ok (was good to play with you all) nice way to pick up playing skills.
The issue i had is as follows....
I started teamspeak and connected to the server i was supposed to connect to but i didnt seem to hear anyone or see anyone else connected to it.
Did i do something wrong ? or was it just that there wasnt anyone else on the teamspeak server ?
Once again thanks for the chance to play with you all and heres looking forward to many many more hours....
I now see the training section so i am sorry for posting this in the genral section.
Pleasee move this for me to the right section. Thanks

Hi!
Well, I'm afraid TS was a little chaothic yesterday. There were several people having different problems. At first, just Snowbird, Christic and myself were there without any issues. Then Ghost also connected and it took a while for us to figure out that obviously he didn't have a microphone.
Next were the [3o] guys connecting to our TS server. Sajo (that's 54j0 -> leet speak for Sajo as I know now) had some major problems. When he connected, we all heard extremely loud cracking noises instead of any speech. It made communication impossible. Later, there was another player joining who produced audio feedback to the channel. That means we all heard his audio output at home instead of his speech. We could hear him shooting and driving the Hellbender. But worst of all was that our own speech was echoed, which means that we heard everything we said again, with little delay. Extremely annoying.
I guess, the one producing the echo was you, MaccaD, because we didn't hear you at all. It's possible that you need to configure your audio devices within Teamspeak (see the screenshot below). We should check if your TS works before the next training is coming up.
Further remarks: Something that confuses many players is that "Blue Team" and "Red Team" are subchannels of the "Onslaught training" channel, which also is a channel of our Teamspeak server. We usually don't use the team channels, because we have no chance to choose a team in the game (the reason is the server mutator or actor which automatically distributes the players to the teams). So if you want to change to the correct channel, you need to double click the name ONS training. See the attached screenshot to check out how it would look if you did it right. In case you double click "Red Team" or "Blue Team", your name will be displayed vertically aligned with the word "Red" (instead of vertically aligned with the word "ONS").
Also important is that you configure the Voice activation level correctly. You can always test it with the Activate local test mode button. The green lamp must be off when you're quiet (also when you're breathing!). But when you say something, it must light up and you should be able to hear what you said. Adjust the appropriate controller between "whisper" and "shout". It is perfect when it's just as sensible that your breathing isn't recorded, but everything louder is. Also position your microphone in a position where you don't breathe on it. I'll attach a screenshot for this setting as well.
Btw.: That exclamation "fuck you Coco" was from Primer, who wasn't really pleased when I overrode him the third time.
I took it with humour and I think that's how he meant it too.
Coco.

Oh yeah, Baby!!!! That was very anoying, and I still have a headache from it. That is the second time in 2 weeks training, that I just gave up. We need to iron these things out before we go public. I am sorry for leaveing again, with out say bye (something I never do) but when I spec'ed, and tried to iron it out, all I could hear was laughter, and that damn echo. I apoligise again for being rude, and leaveing, but after a hard days work, I just want to come in and kill peeps.
I think next time, guys, I will stay out of the TS and just type. I was so looking forward to training with the [30] guys, and then this happens.
I want to personally ask Coco for forgiveness, because he puts so much time and effort into these "trainings", and it always seems to go wrong. Thank-you once again Mr. Coco, for the chance to have these. Frank

I am finally setup with latest retail patch for my game and i now have my teamspeak settings correctly set (have to press my 'T' button to talk via teamspeak now.
Thanks CoCo for a very useful post on how to set teamspeak correctly.
I look forward to the next training day
