FastPath ist die Bezeichnung für eine Option zur Verringerung der Latenz bei ADSL-Anschlüssen.
Vorteile sind eine bessere Reaktionszeit bei Online-Spielen oder Terminal-Verbindungen (z.B. SSH), eine geringere Sprachverzögerung und bessere Echo-Unterdrückung bei Internet-Telefonie sowie eine geringfügig flüssigere Webnutzung. In seltenen Fällen kann sich dies nachteilig auf die effektive Übertragungsrate auswirken.

Per FastPath (o in breve, Fast) si intende in informatica e telecomunicazioni, specialmente in relazione alla tecnologia digitale di trasmissione dati, la mancata applicazione di algoritmi di Interleaving.
Rispetto ad una connessione interleaved che garantisce una maggiore protezione della trasmissione da pacchetti di errori, una connessione Fast offre invece una minore latenza di trasmissione e quindi una risposta più reattiva, caratteristica molto apprezzata durante partite di videogiochi in multiplayer o sessioni di telefonia VoIP che richiedono bassi tempi di risposta per una migliore qualità del servizio.
Se la latenza misurata tramite traceroute fra il primo nodo e il successivo è inferiore a 25 millisecondi, si può essere sufficientemente sicuri che la propria linea ADSL sia esente da controllo della trasmissione di errori, ovvero sia una connessione settata in Fast. La configurazione del settaggio è altresì ricavabile dalle informazioni fornite da quei modem o router che siano in grado di rilevare i parametri sullo stato di connessione della linea.

The correct term would be ADSL2+. The difference between ADSL and ADSL2+ is that the latter encodes more bits per sample, using more peak levels. The transfer speed is the same for both, but ADSL2+ achieves a higher data rate becasue the "more bits per sample" mechanism means you can transfer multiple bits in parallel.
As a rule of thumb you can say that DSL speeds of 1000 to 6000 kbit/sec use ADSL while those above 6000 kbit/sec use ADSL2+. In connection with fastpath, this means if your netspeed is higher than 6000 kbit/sec, you don't need to care about it, because you have it implicitly. In case your netspeed is 6000 kbit/sec or lower, you should check if fastpath is setup (do a tracert and check the delay between you and your ISP) or available from your ISP at all.
