help with a mod

i'm making a mod based on the anime series bubblegum crisis tokyo 2040, and i've done almost everything, but one problem still remains.

my problem is that each playerclass that i made has it's own weapon, but when i try to set the weapon to be a default weapon, nothing changes or i start with no weapons at all. and plz note that i don't want to make a new game mode.

i know someone out there can help me, so please help if u can

normally you DO make a new gameclass if you want a new default weapon... but yes there is another way.

I currently do not know HOW, but the "Unreal Forever" mod does it somehow, using custom pawns etc etc... So I'd suggest you just look what those U4EPawn classes do to start with some custom inventory :) Can't be too much of a hassle.

Will look myself if you don't find out, but I always have my hands so damn full so it could take a bit :wink:

i have U4e, and have checked the playerclasses...in fact, i copied them into my mod and expanded my playerclasses from it. i thought that maybe u (or one of ur fellow TCP buddies) could give me some tips, because even when using the U4e system, the weapons don't show for some reason. wtf?? if anyone out there has some insight as to how to get this sorta thing to work, plz help!

i just tried using u4e as a playerclass base again, and for some odd reason, i could change the default wep. o_O. now all i have to do is finihs off my weps and the mod is ready to release :)

i've come across another annoying little problem...
i just merged all of my playerclasses from 4 seperate .u files into 1. but i don't know how to make a .int for skins....little help from anyone that knows how would be greatly appreciated.

Get the PIP skinpack from oldunreal :) There is a nice INT file in it that should be more or less self-explaining :)

i have all the skins in the package folder, but do not know how to direct an int at them...

BGC\Textures\*.pcx

how would i write that in an int?? perhaps i'll have to have a seperate texture file...:shock:

i made a releasable version of my mod

:)

it's not the best mod in the world, but i'm proud of what i do make.

and btw peeps, u should all use winRAR to compress things, it does a better job than winzip, for example, my mod when compressed into RAR format by winrar is 334kb, but with winzip it's 414kb. it's not much of a difference, but the larger the files u r compressing the more difference there is. trust me, it's worth it.

i put the unreal4ever mod into a rar, and the rar file size was 6mb lower than the zip. that rules if u ask me.

Hehehe I only use zip when I need someone every dummy can open :roll:

Personally I prefer ARJ or ACE, but yes RAR has evolved to be very efficient too.

Guess I'll have to download something to test when I'm home.

I'm still not sure about your skinning problem... did you resolve it completely now? From the one info with the PCX files there is nothing you could do of course, since Textures would have to be in a UTX file. The easiest way to create one is importing the textures with UnrealEd... but somehow I think you know that well enough... :roll:

If you aren't sure how to make different skins available to custom playerclasses, I'd surmise U4E also has the answer somewhere, because of those custom pawns some have more than one skin selectable...
