Hi Nosh!

Simply get yourself a sample editing software that supports (de)amplification for different frequency bands. This would be the same as using an equilizer, except that it's altering the sample instead of doing it on the fly while playback. All you must do is to attenuate the low frequencies and to amplify the high frequencies. The result won't be too good (you'll get some noise), but the voices might be understandable then.

I can't recommend a free software at the moment, because I'm using CoolEdit2000 for such things (which is commercial and which I have bought some years ago). Maybe, a demo version of this software would also do the job. My version is quite old and as far as I know, the program has been bought by Adobe inbetween and is now called "Adobe Audition". But in unregistered state, my old version offered the selection of two effects upon startup that were usable later. Maybe, you can find the demo version of "Cool Edit 2000", version 1.1 from Syntrillium somewhere on the net. All pages that I found linked to the Syntrillium FTP server, which doesn't seem to exist anymore.

Ah, and probably the port of the free Linux software "Audiacity" can also do it. Here's a download link.

In case you still need more, simply check the freeware resources on the net like this one, for example (check Multimedia -> Audio editing section).

Coco.
