hmm, recommend a Intel system Magic.
Try a Intel Core2Duo E6750, it tops off every AMD dualcore and its even cheaper
And for the MoBo try to find one based on a p35 chipset, price around 100,- is easily to find
HDD fine, screen, mouse, keyboard all fine. Im getting the same RAM as you
good choice. Case is mostly personally what you think looks cool.
WARNING: Dont choose 8800gts! At least if you gonna buy soon.
The new 8800gt is better then the gts version and even comes close to the gtx. They are planning to launch new 8800gts versions and maybe gtx but I havent heard anything about that. Check some benchmarks and youll see that 8800gt is a very good buy, maybe if you have some money left you could consider 2 8800GT 256mb cards in SLI(2 x 199,-)

Listen to Phenom, he no fool
P.S.: there is also a new revision of the 8800gts (not sure if out yet..), which is, by performance, betwen the "old" 8800gts and 8800gtx.

OK MG.
Amd will bring out new cpu sockets called AM2+ and AM3,
so I would stay away from AMD at the moment.
When getting, upgrading a pc,it is best to get some form of
future proofing motherboard,in this case go for INTEL chipset,i.e P38
etc..
All new INTEL cpus will be compatable with this socket!
Intel are ahead of the cpu race and Amds new cpus will be like intels
present cpus.
Just wait alittle longer, when new hardware comes out,it will make
the present hardware prices drop like a stone.

@ Slaphead
Phenom cpu's that have been tested already have higher benchmarks than current intel cpu's. Ofcourse the penryn's of intel will be even better.
But who needs that. A computer with an 5000+ athlon x2 cpu and and 8800ultra or gtx can easily run crysis demo.. currently there is no gpu that can run crysis fluently with everything on high, but what I am trying to say is that all that matters is your vga card.
Any 2.4ghz+ dual core cpu wether it be intel or amd, can, with a good vga like 8800 xxx series can run almost every game there is on high settings.
Phenom cpu's will be much cheaper than penryn, even cheaper than current conroe's..so phenom is obviously the best choiche there is.
The first phenom's will be released on am2 and am2+ the rest on am2+ and am3, so my tip is, magic girl, if you can't wait with your pc and want something futureproof, go for intel. However if you wait till january like me, you can go buy an amd phenom system, which will cost you less and give you a bit better performance than current intel systems.
I would really advise AGAINST buying new intel stuff. It will be very overpriced and by next year will cost half of what it will cost when it comes out.
So 1 last time.
Now Intel>AMD for best price/quality/perfomance, January AMD>Intel for best price/quality/performance..
However if you are rich and have 1000's to spend, then you can always buy the new intel quads as soon as they come out with dual 8800ultra's or a 8900 if it is out then..and other stuff to get the best pc there is, but really, who does that. Tests have shown that the best pc in the world, or the best price/quality/performance pc in the world only differ 5 fps when playing crysis everything high..

Its true that every modern AMD/Intel dualcore is good enough but always try to get the most for youre money
I havent seen any benchs off Phenom yett so I cant judge about that but its a bit silly to wait since every month there is something new and something better or something cheaper and so on..... Btw the penryn processors wont be much more pricy then the conroe line. Maybe 50,- € but not much more(and youll get a lot more performance for it back
). You can wait ofcourse but then you have to suffer that you cant play UT3
Best price-performance card is 8800gt at the moment but you can always go to the gtx version and about the 8900xx series, I dont think they will come out until spring 2008.(I personnally think its a waiste of money to go for SLI-8800Ultra btw
) And dont go for X38 chipset, its not worth it unless you have lots of money to spend.
Do you have a budget MG? That would help a lot with giving advice
PS:Intel > AMD and Intel will stay > AMD
PPS: @Slappy there isnt a P38 chipset

I have seen benchmarks, they are on most sites.. they beat the conroe's but stay behind penryns..
Really if you would buy a 5000+ of athlon right now or an E6750 you really wouldn't know the difference when playing ut3 with dual 8800GT..
Penryn dual cores will be ranging from 200-400 and quads 300-1000 euro's.
However phenom's will be 150-300 and 200-800.. and they beat the conroe's. The conroe's are already so incredibly good, more than needed really. So why buy even better penryn's, the only reason I'm buying the better phenom cpu's is because I wanna go amd and athlon simply sucks.
Phenom's were made to compete with penryn, not conroe, the benchmarks prove that. But really, the best thing is to just go with conroe, you will not need anything else, just buy it alongside a good mobo, and your good to go for years to come, if the cpu is getting slow, simply buy a penryn in 1 year time, prices will be down by 40% then.
So simply put, Penryn>Phenom>Conroe/Kentsfield>Athlon/Opteron
If you want AMD like me, wait 1 month and buy phenom, if you wan't Intel, just buy the conroe, no need for penryn, conroe's cpu's will not becoming slow anytime soon... and if you really want penryn, just wait anyway, wait some time and you'll be paying much less for penryn.

It's a nice high-end chipset, but you have to understand it can only work at it's full potential with DDR3 memory, which is very expensive at the moment. If you want to go for a bang for your bucks, get the P35 with DDR2.
