Hi!
}TCP{the_kay wrote:First of all, thank you Carnage for providing us such a fast download (mine was 500MByte/s, that is maximum download speed for me)
Wow, that's really fast! You got the demo in 1.5 seconds then!
I downloaded it with 1600 KB/sec.
}TCP{the_kay wrote:UT3 is really nice, though the graphics seem strange to me... the pixel seem so hard-edged... perhaps my graphic card (GeForce 7900GS) is too weak to handle everything.
Hmm, what exactly do you mean? I got a Geforce 7600 GT and it looked good. Did you change the resolution? It is 640x480 by default. And maybe, you should try enabling Anti-Aliasing (if not already done).
}TCP{the_kay wrote:@Coco:
On the VCTF there is no Cicada (I'm pretty sure about that), maybe you mean the Raptor which looks in UT3 a bit like the Cicada in UT2004.
That might be possible. I just saw something in the fight that looked like a Cicada, but it was just for short and I had to shoot another enemy. :-)
}TCP{the_kay wrote:There is an AVRiL on the map though it is not easy to find. The avril is located on each tower on the middle plattform above the street. You can get there with a jump pad that is located at the side of the tower.
Ah, ok. I'll check this out next time I play it, thanks.
}TCP{the_kay wrote:On AGEIA PhysX. It really sucks that I have to install drivers of a card, I don't even have :(
Perhaps Atari/Midway/etc. has a contract with them...
Why did you have to install any drivers? It's just an engine. If you would remove your 3D card, you would have to do 3D rendering in software as well.
}TCP{the_kay wrote:From what I have heard, those PhysiX cards are not very efficient. You don't have big advantages if you have one of those, and they cost much money...
(at least that's what I read in the c't, a German computer magazine)
Hmm, I can't say much about it. Maybe this means that these cards are not much faster than a CPU. But still, such a card could do it parallel to the rest of the CPU work. :-) Anyway, getting some more info about it might be a good idea.
blackpool wrote:the error message i get is
the ut3demo.exe has incounted a problem and needs to close we are sorry for the inconvinance
Hmm, sounds like a Windows message. The game must have crashed. Today, I also got a bluescreen in the game when the VCTF map was just about to start. :-( Do you have the latest drivers installed for your 3D card?
}TCP{PingKing wrote:even when i play at lowest setting i have 15 fps wtf i have a decent gpu and cpu me no understand
Hmm, there must be something wrong with your configuration then. Your PC isn't be slower then mine, I guess.

Btw., do you guys also have the problem that the game doesn't remember the settings? I have to configure everything anew each time I run the game - video settings, input keys, etc. ... simply everything! :-(

Coco.

Just a heads up

if your getting fps lags on max settings, then i suggest putting texture and world details to 3 and 3 rather than 5 and 5 as this had 0% effect of visual quality, but can at places increase your fps by upto 30% :)

howevevevever, if your having issues running it now at max settings...then the full game may be a bit of a pain cause the current beta demo tectures were "dumbed down" to reduce the size of the download  . So basically the full game will have even better graphics

baaah, i've just played it. it works like SHIT, i get from 15 to 30 fps on "level 2" settings - on the VCTF map, WITHOUT BOTS!! Ok, my comp isnt exactly a top model, but that it runs so bad... *sigh* Like i've foreseen, ill play it around year 2010 (maybe even later :D ).
If u have a computer thats remotely similar to my, the game will be unplayable, so dont even try it ;) Pentium 4 @ 3,5ghz , 1gb ram, geforce 7600gs - the machine that will never run ut3 online :P

ps.: i hate what they did to the raptor and love the hellbender and manta changes :]

A. System Requirements
The Unreal Tournament 3 Demo requires a personal computer with the following minimum system requirements:

· Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista
· 2.0+ GHZ Single Core Processor
· 512 Mbytes of System RAM
· NVIDIA 6200+ or ATI Radeon 9600+ Video Card
· 8 GB of Free Hard Drive Space
B. Getting Help
You can get help for the Unreal Tournament 3 Demo in the following ways:

Visit the official Web site for the latest updates and support information: www.unrealtournament3.com.

For an overview of the game as well as for information about getting started and playing the game, see the printed manual.
C. Known Configuration Issues
Visit the official Web site for the latest updates and support information: www.unrealtournament3.com.

Certain keys on non-English keyboards do not function correctly: On some non-English keyboards, certain keys do not work as expected. In other words, what appears when you press the key is not what is printed on the key. To fix this problem, remap any problem keys.

Microsoft XP Professional x64 Users: You need to install the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 x64. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

Sever passwords are not case sensitive.

If you're having problems connecting to other players while running a co-op campaign or a server: You need to open port 7777, and that should allow other players to connect.

Windows Vista Users: We recommend installing the Vista hotfix (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940105) which fixes virtual address space usage on Vista.

Hotfix for SLI customers running DirectX 10 applications: Please go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936710. This hotfix resolves occurrences of low frame rates on some DirectX 10 applications when SLI is enabled. Performance improvements will vary depending on the application and the graphics driver version.

D. Known Graphics Issues
Some issues with NVIDIA graphics cards cause the game to stop: To run the Unreal Tournament 3 Demo with certain NVIDIA cards, you must install the NVIDIA ForceWare 163.71 driver, or a later driver. To install the 163.71 or later driver, go to the www.nvidia.com/drivers website. If you do not install the 163.71 driver or a later driver, at some point the game might stop and your progress will be lost.

For other issues with NVIDIA graphics cards and Windows Vista, go to the www.nvidia.com/object/windows_vista_hotfixes.html website.

If you are experiencing meshes flickering with NVIDIA graphics cards and Windows Vista please reboot your machine – this is an NVIDIA driver issue.

Hotfixes for GeForce customers running Windows Vista: Please go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938194 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938979 - these hotfixes improve the compatibility and reliability of Windows Vista. It can be downloaded from this link or from Windows Update.

Some issues with NVIDIA 7900 graphics cards cause the game to stop: If users are getting crashes creating rendering resources (pixel shaders, index buffers, textures etc) on NVIDIA cards with low operating system memory (1Gb or less), follow these steps for a workaround:

1. If AVG anti-virus software is installed, it needs to be uninstalled. This program causes resource conflicts with drivers. Be sure to restart the system after removing AVG.
2. In UTGame/Config/UTEngine.ini, set bInitializeShadersOnDemand=True.
3. Run the game again.

Some issues with ATI graphics cards cause the game to stop: To run Unreal Tournament 3 for Radeon 9x00 cards, we recommend installing the ATI Catalyst driver revision 7.8 from the www.amd.com website. If you do not install the revision 7.8 driver from the website, at some point the game might stop and your progress will be lost. For newer cards we recommend installing ATI Catalyst driver revision 7.9.

Graphics Card Drivers and Manufacturers
Be sure that you have installed the latest driver for your graphics card. Many video issues will be resolved simply by updating your graphics card's drivers. The Unreal Tournament 3 Demo may not properly detect some older graphics cards because their video drivers are not DirectX 9.0c compliant. Contact your graphics card manufacturer for updated drivers, or install the latest reference drivers for your graphics card chipset. Note that many reference drivers are not supported by the chipset manufacturer. Listed below are some common graphics card manufacturer Web sites.

E. Known Hardware Issues
Some issues with AMD processors cause the game to stop: To run the Unreal Tournament 3 Demo with certain AMD processors, you must either install the AMD Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (x86 and x64 exe) 1.3.2.16 or get the latest driver for your brand of processor from the www.amd.com website. If you do not install this driver or the latest driver from the website, at some point the game will stop and your progress will be lost. The game installs this by default unless user opts not to.

F. General Audio Issues
Audio stops at game start in Windows Vista: When the game is started on certain computers running Windows Vista, the audio stops. To fix this problem, install the latest driver for your sound card.

Audio occasionally crashes on startup in Windows Vista: In case of audio/hardware/driver issues, please run the game with –nosound in the command line to determine if your audio drivers are causing the crash. If the game does not crash with the –nosound command, please upgrade your audio drivers.

The Unreal Tournament 3 Demo does not support more than 2 channel audio on cards without OpenAL drivers: The game only outputs 5.1 if the “Hardware OpenAL” checkbox is ticked and the sound card has OpenAL drivers.

What I really miss in UT3 is the shield gun... I was never really aware of how much I used it in ut2004 :(

However, one new invention is really cool: the hoverboard. It is really good if you want to move fast, however using it in a fight is just stupid, you are _very_ vulnerable on it.

I also like the suicide-mode of the scorpion (press spacebar to boost, and then eject via 'e'). Really fun, though I doubt that it will be of much use

The idea with Impact Hammer back is totally dumb. Couldn't they just bring old look and put shield as alt fire? eh.. :(
