Hi Frank!
}TCP{DAFrank wrote:@ Skarij, Look at the map, study it and make sure you are on the right side. I had a problem finding it myself in the last version. It is a red button on the bottom of the river. As you are coming from the red core( in the screenie the core at the top) as you are going to the blue core, you have to go to the left of the map. As you pass the bunker, go in the water to the right. It is inbetween the 2 largest hills and in the middle of the river. I hope you can find it. If not, post again, and I will make a bigger screenie.
Well, I had some problems finding it myself, but I found a much easier way to describe the position. From the middle bridge, just navigate towards nodes 7 and 12. Where the connection lines between these and the middle nodes cross on the map, there's the exact location on the river ground. :-)
}TCP{DAFrank wrote:@ COCO,, Thank you for your kind words. Do you like the secret area, or do you think it could be a problem? As I made the level the first time, I thought there were enough weapons in it, but of coarse I did not recon on so many palyers being in at one time. I hope that it is now better equipt.
No problem, mate, thank you for all the good work! ;-) And as a member of TCP, I really appreciate that you dedicated it to our clan.

Well, I don't think the hidden area will be a problem. I didn't find it easy doing something from there... but on the other hand, I'm just too stupid to sniper. :-) Anyway, few do know about it. We'll have to see how it develops. But for now, I think it's nice.

Concerning the weapons again: The middle nodes at the bridge are those being attacked the most. It's really good for the defenders that they have proper weapons there now.

OK it has been running for a couple of days now, is there any comments on the updated version of the final?

@ Kobra and the others that told me about the mistakes I made. it must have been like the big statue in the one version of sinfonia I made. How that got there I have no idea.. :-)

i noticed such things too in a few maps i made, i not sure but my guess is when you load the "myLevel" static mesh files.
try to load that file while you have running ur map and then rebuild it and check if something changed :p

I am not sure what you mean Kobra. The mistakes in Winter were my fault. I was makeing the signs and forgot to take out one part of it. That was part of the sign that was floating out there by the blue base. I was going to make it more complicated, and decided to make it simple. Next time maybe. But that with Sinfonia and the GREAT statue, was a mystery.

I may have misunderstood you, but you do not "load" your myLevel file, do you? You are not supposed to load or save it. The way that I take things out of myLevel for another map, is to load the whole level, so that the static mesh is in the browser, and then load the one where I want to use the static mesh in. Now you have the mesh for use. I think I loaded the myLevel once, in Sinf, and noow I have a subdirectory of myLevel in myLevel.

Eh Frank I think you shoudl start new map, coz this one is just bad. Overall look is bad, hills looks like cliffs, some building are totally empty.
Also the link setup is not too good. If one team takes most of PN's, the second team has no chance to comeback. I suggest more teleporters from Power Core to vehicles.

Anyway you should start new map, coz this one doesn't bring fun.

You have skills, so next time use them more. I know that you have lack of time, but still if you're doing something, do it good, coz you can. At least I believe in you, mate :).

Hi!

Oviously, opinions differ here. I like the map a lot! The link setup is interesting and it's always fun to play. The look may be a little grey, but it's Wintertime, isn't it? ;-)

Good work in my opinion, Frank. And the map is being voted quite often, so I think the other players like it as well.

it may be true that the team who has the most powernodes can hardly be beaten, thats why you shouldnt lose too many nodes and if it happens on this map you have to hold them back till overtime.

Hi!

Well, the good thing is that there are 2 routes to the middle nodes. The enemy can hardly protect them both if the team tries to get one back together. But this would require teamplay, which is rarely performed on our server. :-|

I have to difer with MBB, about the nodes not being able to be taken over. I joined yesterday and the red team was 3 nodes short of loseing. It took about 10 minutes to turn it around and then we (red) had the middle nodes. I have seen it often on Winter that the turn around happens quickly. I have to aggree with him about it being ugly. Remember this is a very large map, and yes I have very little time. I do my best to update it, and add more things to make it interesting. I have also started several other maps, that are just sitting there waiting to be finished. My new one is a Desert world, so it will be brighter.

@ Kobra, you are fully right. That is the name of the game. DOnt let the other team geet too many nodes. Simple.

@ Coco, Teamplay on this map is important. Thank you for your opinions and yes, some like it and some do not. But like coco said, it is being played allot. I will continue to improve this one, and thank you MBB for your trust in me and my skills. :)

Hi Frank, great job again. I played this map lots of time in the Net and i never see the bridge in the middel moving. This morning i played the new one with some bots to look for the secrets an i see the bridge is moving. Looks the bots knew more than me... How can i do this, too

Winter is a good map Frank.
Coco hit the nail on the head by saying it comes down to team play.
With two balanced teams, this map is a joy to play.
But as soon as you get noobs unbalancing the teams, thats when things
go horribly wrong.
A noob is someone who has been playing the map for 10 mins and only has a score of 0 to 5 points,to many of these on one team will spoil the game
regardless of which map or serve.

I am looking forward to your new map Frank.:)

Well thanks for the flowers guys. I really enjoy mapping, and see the mistakes that I make myself. Like the bridge. It was an experiment that I was trying out. The bridge folds up on both sides when a trigger is hit. Then from the river, comes another box/container, with a BIG goddie in it. I think the name is a SPMA :-) the box would unfold and move to the node and let the SPMA out. I had a problem with the water. The unfolding box look great. But I could not get a volume around the box so that the SPMA would not die in the water. I was going to make the water non deadly for vehicles, but that was also unrealistic. After about 3 weeks work, I decided to scrap the thought. The mover should actually not move. Someday I will fix that. It is just the bots that get it to move. Sry.
