Observatory Roof

Post by }TCP{Ramses »

We were discussing Observatory last night and the general feeling was that the route to the roof should be blocked because camping up there spoils the gameplay.

I know that there was access to the roof in the original and some purists might not want the access to be blocked. In TAM though it just encourages a standoff until timeout with one team staying inside while the sniper hovers on the roof, not very exciting  .

The problem is that Tranquility who converted the map has disappeared since Xmas, so I suggest and request that Kobra puts a blocking volume or something by the tower to deny access. If Tranquility is unhappy with this we can always revert back to the original setup  .

Any comments ?

Nah, some people are really good at that map and some aren't. I suck at the map due to the campers. But still I feel it shouldn't be blocked. It is just my weakness that I can't kill the campers.
Guys like Kobra can easily deal with it. Just a matter of aim and skill.
People always whine about getting on the roof, you could get up there yourself and kill them. Or aim really well and shoot them off the roof.
If you can't then it is YOUR problem.

It actually spoils the game dood, you're not suppose to camp in TAM lol..no matter what map.. Damn faggots :P
It's not kindergarden, play like normal ppl.. they cant follow simple rules, just kick em. :p

If carnage used admin mambo powers to make me die the last time I played..when the teams were unbalanced as if it was all my god damn fault, anyways..theres no fkn way you let them just camp there and you do nothing :l

@Taz.
Its my fault.
Camping is down to the choice of each player. You can camp in any map
and game type.
If camping areas are removed from a map,the only people who would miss it
are the ones who use it. Also know as campers.

I think you should block the map in question.Taz is right it does
spoil the flow of the game.(Slows things down at the end of each round).

I think that blocking volume should be added there or Ion Cannon volume so player can't stay there longer than 5 seconds :D.

I also aggree with denying access to the roof. There is another alternative though. I made a map for unreal 1 a few years ago, and built a campers paradise on one side of the level. I then put in invisible floors above it to smash campers that would kill me. I had secret buttons set up, so that you would just have to shoot the button and then the floor would come down and smash them. It was a point for me, and the camper (god, I hate campers) would be looking around asking what the f__ck hit em. It may teach some people not to camp. :-)

Not really much work involved. Just 4 brushes to cover the roof area, and 4 triggers. DONE!!!.

Yeah, that is about the way I react also when I think of it. Hey, I made the skybox here, so I may have a few rights, and Tranq will not bitch me out too much. I will do that now. :-)
