Looking for a new mouse

Post by }TCP{Carnage »

Well as the topic says i think it might be time for a new mouse

This one seems to running to an end and is getting more messed up slowly
So i'm looking for a new one .. and other then this one i would like a good one for a change :)

i have a few requirements it will have to meet though.

1 : No wireless .. i want it wired
2 : A left handed mouse ( the one i have now is prety neutral)
3 : Obviously laser or optical
4 : Some more buttons then i have now .. i now have a prety standard one with 2 clickers and the wheel that is clickable.

Any suggestions would be welcome :)

Cheers
Car..

...left handed? You play with your left hand?

I have a razer copperhead and it's made for both left and right, it's 100% the same on both sides, but pretty small and not too confortable if you have big hands. Other than that I would recommend a Logitech MX518. I've had this mouse before this one and I can say its slightly better, fits your hand really well and the sidebuttons are sweet to use (unlike razer copperhead ones).

Yes, the MX518 is the best optical 1600 dpi mouse in existence, but only for right-handers, otherwise this would be my current definite suggestion for you.

I don't recommend a Razer Copperhead for poor quality, but Razer does have a few decent models (Diamondback, Cee can tell), although all of them are rumored to die earlier than other brands.

A Logitech G3 (what I currently use) might be your way to go, Laser 2000 dpi. Note that the current Laser mice do NOT work with as high physical movement speeds as current top optical mice, so if you tend to move your mouse very fast then hands off the Laser models.

I have a Razor Diamondback.

All in all it is ok, it isn't too heavy and moves smooth. The mouse wheel is cool and the "click pad" is really big. What I dislike about it that its drivers especially for free operating systems such as GNU/Linux are not very well. Sometimes the cursor "shakes" when I move the mouse. Or it doesn't move at all so that I have to re-plug-in it (this happens on Windows, too). That is really annoying.
I don't really use more than 3 Buttons (Left, Right, Middle). I have 7 Buttons and I thought I would use them but I don't really do...

My tip is..stop using they keys and start using wasd or esdf.
Then buy the mx518, if you are not willing to do that, I'd say diamondback/copperhead or wolf's suggestion.

Honestly I never noticed much difference between my old Logitech 9 euro mouse and that Razer mouse. They move the same, those other buttons are never being used by me (since I always click em accidentally) and my gameplay also didnt improve :P
The only thing thats different is the sensi change on the fly, which I never use either :O
Is it really that different for everybody else ? :l
