ARF, I voted for Yes, it's a little disfocusing when two guys on public channel are talking something in weird language.

Ouch, and maybe we should make a vote about removing crappy maps from ONS server? :F

I vote yes, but some guys really take it all too seriously when some people are chatting two sentences dutch or something. Just keep the main language English and dont take the few other sentences wrong, if it gets too much you should say they have to talk english.

Yes, as I explained my concerns are not for a few non-English remarks, my concerns are ongoing discussions everyone else is kept out of and continued threads.

@Ghost: kicking/banning was NEVER mentioned as punishment, that would be way over the top.

No, because getting punished for something as trivial as talking in your own language to somebody else is silly to me, especially in a game thats supposedly played for fun. Not everybody speaks the language, not everybody knows the language. What do I care what some ppl are saying in French or Spanish as long as they can understand each other :/

Well I find it irritating, if my entire screen if full of people spamming unreadable texts, for me that is.
I don't think that kicking is over the top, banning is however.
I believe that if a person, after several warnings, still refuses to oblige to the rules, that he has to be removed. It's in his own hands. Sure some "how are you" is fine if it is not English. But if people start talking about their entire day, and stuff and about some recent clan matches, then yes I find it very disturbing. People who hate this can just mute the players. But I think that after repeatedly asking if someone could stop doing a certain thing that is against the rules, still keeps on doing this, that it is then their own fault. They know the rules, know they can say a few words. They can even do more than that. Then they can get 1 or 2 warnings but that is it.
Why make rules if not following them has no disadvantage for the comitting player. Sure he can be muted. But he can still play on the server. So then he'll shut up. But he broke the rules, I'm not saying I never did, I probably have. But if we are intent on making strong rules them I will be sure to oblige them. Breaking the rules needs to be punished, first a warning, then a final warning and finally kicking.
Mute is basically for people who can't kick a player and want to get rid of the spam messages.
However this is all just my opinion. So offense to all of you. Just wanted to say this.

hmm Difficult one this for me. Its good to encourage English so that most people can understand, but it seems a bit harsh on those who don't speak English to actually mute them. Learning a new language just to play on a server is not an easy ask

. I vote no, but I'm happy with either outcome.

I think that on servers we should speak English, but what if someone wants to talk private to some country mate, and he hasn't microphone? I had to do it sometimes.

Yes, but warn before kicking (there is this nice admin command called "admin deal say pn1 message" on the ONS server. If the person doesn't read your warnings, you can write him messages all over the screen

Considering ppl speaking their language because their English is bad/non existant, what good would a warning in English do if they dont understand it ? :/

They should just not play here, I haven't seen anyone on the server who couldn't talk english. Only people who can but refuse too.
