TCP-ToySoldiers Screenshots

Post by the_kay »

Here are some Screenshots I made of TCP-ToySoldiers. Basically my idea was that maps are usually not recognizable by their name and should therefore have a preview (when map vote is in progress you can right click on a map and view a some Screenshots and a text). Unfortunately most maps don't have that preview option, so I would like to see our maps go on as a good example...

Those Screenshots are optional, of course, and Kobra can do what he want :)

The preview screenshots are always saved in the myLevel package - that means that the screenshots are saved inside the file with the map (.ut2 file), so you won't be able to see those preview screens if you don't have the map installed (it's a little annoying when you don't know the map that you want to vote for and you can't see any screens etc.)

Also, some maps don't have preview screenshots because of their size - some maps are really big (40 MB!) and their autors try to reduce the size of the map file by removing preview screens.
Nice screens BTW. :)

Thanks. But if you download the map automatically from the server, the preview screen is loaded, too, right?

It will be downloaded, but if I remember correct you still won't be able to see the prewiev, because the map isn't installed (means: map file isn't in the map directory, because when you DL something from the server is saved as cache).

I remeber I had nice mtaches on this map, but its way too biiiiiig, so moving between PNs takes loong time. I think that some jumppads, or teleporters should help.

you are wrong marcy, i thought of putting jumppads at some places but there are enough nodes which are in ur near so you never walk too much (at least you dont walk without meeting enemys so you always busy even as a infantry).

yes thanks carn,
that helped me to figure out some other problems aswell..
im actually working with an moderator of Unreal-Ed site who helps me to tune the perfomance and right now in the new version the FPS is already +40 :)
i will report you when the new version is done so we could test it online if all the fixes helped or not.

I noticed you closed the doors. I have not seen this version yet. Hey Kobra, why not hang some pictures on the walls? Maybe add a dirty sock or a basketball, or maybe even your power lifting weights in your bedroom. BTW I am glad to hear you are still involved with mapping.
