I'm like the only kid in my class who can speak proper english and I am amazed by that, can't believe people actually believe it to be a difficult language..i find my own language more difficult..lol

The number of words in English is twice the number of most other languages, its from German and French and some Scandinavian, which is why they say it is difficult. Its also why poets like it, plenty of words to choose from

Hi!

In school, I have learned that 52% of all English words have Roman origin. Also, there are many German words that are similar in English. So, because of speaking German and having Latin at school, too, I never thought that English was a difficult language.

Besides this, practice is most important to learn a language. And especially for English, it is really easy to get these days. You need it in the internet, songtexts are mainly in English and at least here in Germany we have many commercials that use English language.

Yes French originates from Latin

It came over with the Normans, 1066 and all that. Because they conquered and became the ruling class (and Latin was the international language of scholars) many of the posh words in English are from Latin/French, and many of the slang words are from German (the language of the conquered Saxons).
