Hi the_kay!
Ahh, you refer to my comment about spider mines in our last ONS game, right? Well, in general, I don't think that spider mines are really lame weapons. Ok, you don't need much skill to use them, but I like those little things with their own life.

It also isn't that hard to fight a player who throws them in combat.
It's just in this special map, ONS-Battlefront-Rilez, where they drive me mad. When you enter the bunker to assault node 3 (or 6), you usually have tanks in your back, shooting at you, the defenders of the node shooting at you from the front, a long way to go straight forward and very little space to move at all. And just when you managed to survive them all and kill your opponents, there comes one of these dozen spider mines that were left there for auto defense and you're dead.
So to successfully attack such a node, you have to avoid the tank shots, kill about 4 defenders in average, shoot the node again and again so they can't respawn there and shoot the spiders before they notice you. And while doing all that, you almost can't move at all because you have to clear the ground from the spiders first.
All this makes it nearly impossible to attack the node, especially if there's no second offender in your team as many players seem to camp or defend in this map. If you try to attack again and again and again and AGAIN and many times almost succeed except of the spiders, this can make you crazy.
I think the map author had good reasons not to place spiders in the weapon locker of these nodes. But, of course, players teleport somewhere else to get them.
Don't get me wrong: When I defend there, I use them as well. They
are effective, no question. But in my opinion they are too powerful at these two nodes.
So no personal offense intended, kay. When I wrote "these spiders are lame", I didn't even know or notice that you put them there - if you did at all!? It was just the 1000000001th time these mines killed me there and even if I have good patience in general, this is frustrating sooner or later.
Anyway, in general I think, the weapons in the game are quite well balanced. Some require more skill, some require less. Some are very powerful, others are more precise. Usually, there's something for every distance and every situation...
