Hi!

I definitely need new hardware. Made a screenshot today. Take a look at the fps in the upper right:

Image

Horrible! 8-10 fps although I reduced the quality already. This really sucks...

This map is slow on my pc as well. My machine normally is fast enough for any map. Maybe it's the map?

Yes, this is one of the maps where this happens. There are several others too, like Panalesh and (sorry to say this, Meledictum) Aratheia (but only in some locations).

Usually, I have around 20-30 fps, but this is still to slow in my opinion.

Well, the point is: I don't want to buy new hardware now when UT 2007 is to be released this year. I'd rather like to see what the real hardware requirements are and take this as a guideline. So it's not likely that I will upgrade my system before the release of UT 2007.

The good point is: The same hardware that I would buy now will get cheaper and cheaper the longer it takes. Or seen the other way: Maybe, I will get better hardware for the same money than what I would get now. And as long as I can still play...

Some maps were not made correctly. They do not have the proper volumes blocking the rest of the map. If their is a hill in between 2 nodes and allot of Static meshes and things, their should be a blocking volume in the hill, so that the machine knows that the meshes on the other side should not be drawn. This is only one of the FPS killers in a map. I was in a map once, that it was really only a “dia-show”, as Kobra put it. I tried to look at the map, but it crashed my editor, and I gave up. Also, Carnage took it out of the sequence.

Hi DAFrank!

Yes, I think I know which map you mean. It was an ONS map, right? As far as I remember, I gave Carnage a hint about it because when I voted it and it came up, I was almost unable to look around. But I don't remember the name yet...
