Something on my new puter is defective... out of a sudden it rejects to run in a 3D mode...

I have done a serious of tests and I'm really not a noob with this crap... I'm giving the Radeon to professionals tomorrow or next week and will want a written confirmation from them its defective. Then I'll hopefully get a replacement.

If it's not the card but the board grrrrr... well back to my 3dfx machine... modern computers suck :evil:

some half-way good news...

The professionals tested my GFX card without charging me (they know I am a poor student), said that the card was all in order and gave me a few tips.

Actually it seems ATI cards are --extremely-- picky about what DirectX, graphic driver version and combination of the 2 they work with.

Well... reinstalling the GFX driver several times (!!!!) and DirectX 9 seemed to resolve the problem, but whenever a new hardware is installed which uses direct-draw (like a TV card) or some other multi-media device which uses parts of DirectX the installation gets corrupted again and you have to reinstall DirectX, the GFX drivers or both once more...

But hey I'm happy this shit finally works :roll:

Now if I find some more harddrive space and time I might finally install a few games...

Never heard of it??? Sounds weird... nevertheless cheers for solving the problem, now let's get on with that game of UT2003!!!

I've been advertising around on te usenet to draw disappointed unreal 2 players back to unreal 1 :)

My loyalty to Unreal 1 is not an issue :lol:

Hehehe nice one Zz...

well this gaming PC is still giving me the creeps at times. The explorer crashes way too often... figured out one of the IDE controllers isn't working and... to make it short "Slave Present" jumper DOES make a difference there :D

The sound and graphic board have installed some useless crap which I need to figure out what does not really need to start along with the OS... because when I kill a few tasks, then the explorer and restart it the whole system runs more stable and faster hmmmm
