Question about Target Painter/Ion Painter

Hi there...

As I begun playing ut2k4 I had many questions and very few are left.
One of the big questions I never found an answer to is:
Are there any restrictions for the place where to use a Target Painter/Ion Painter?

My Problem:
Sometimes I get a Target Painter/Ion Painter. I aim enemys or enemy power nodes, press primary fire and wait. A small laser shows my target. And nothing happens.
I try my luck away from enemys. The laser gets bigger and boom - the bomber comes / the orbital ion cannon fires.....however there are no or very few enemys on that place...

It's usualy coz ure just out of range .. and also keep in mind that it has to have a clear target from the sky .. so any node under a roof gor example will not work

Yes. Anyway always you can choose Redemeer, but if you don't have anything but Ion Painter or Target Painter, so just try to be close to Power Node and better on the open field.
