ASCII NAMES JOINING TCP OR KDS SERVER (or: WTF Im banned???)

In case you use a "1337" (cough) ASCII name - meaning - your Unreal alias consists only of totally NON-STANDARD letters, and then you wonder why you appear to be BANNED on the servers... it's your NAME

Actually all you need is ONE normal letter in your name. The reason is for logging purposes your names are being filtered where all pure ascii codes are thrown out. If all letters are ascii though, your filtered name is BLANK and BLANK names are illegal and won't be allowed to join. Sorry about that, if that happens to you check your name, you're likely not banned! Just put a normal letter somewhere in the name and you'll be fine

does that only apply to death/team cause i know this gut in coop and he doesnt have a name. ie when he sais sumthin it just sais:

were it is usually:

That's ONE example of an illegal name, but even using visisble ASCII characters may be critical... if it's the only stuff you use.

As for coop, it depends what filters these servers run.

This was only critical when IPLogger was used and UTF linked up with it, because IPLogger was actually the tool doing the name filter, not UTF.

IPLogger is no longer in use for a looooooong time and UTF itself does not care unless the name is entirely blank - Nepthys will care about that too btw. Illegal names do not matter for those 2.

Alas, this topic - COULD - be removed...
