I've registered our clan with clanbase. Now, I need to know which one of you guys (and girls) wants to join the UT2004 division. You can either tell me and let me enter you in the clanbase or go there yourself and register.

In either case, after you've done so I can enter you as a member of the }TCP{ clan.

If we have enough members, our clan can join the TDM ladder.

But perhaps u can just enter the one ZZ made for all the members
That way ure own e-mail will stay to ureself and if u get spammed for some reason on the tcpclan.nl e-mail u can always change the redirect to another

Err... I read the rules for the Cup Tournaments.

They require you to enter your GUID (your encrypted CD key). First off, I have a little problem with that, second, I wouldn't know where to look for the checksumed CD key...

Also, they require your "Quakenet Masks" (yes that was in the UT2K4 rules page!) to be off, so they can verify your IP. I have no idea what they are talking about, and my IP is dynamic as well. And I don't like people probing my ports or whatever. Looks like a bunch of jackasses to me...

Is there really any need to use Clanbase at all? I would assume it is just as easy to open the TCP UT2K4 server and attract players, then invite them to join the clan or whatever...

Clanbase just makes everything too organized...That sounds wrong, but maybe you know what i mean...

Those people are not jackasses. They do this to make sure nobody is impersonating another player.

As for the IP I would'nt know. I used to play matches with clanbase and there were always people with variable IP's, without problems.

) I was just a bit miffed that I couldnt register without messing about this morning.

re Wolf and Xavious comments, yes it does sound a bit iffy and there appears to be masses of info to read through. No doubt its all done with good intensions, but for example I was put off buying HL2 by the Steam hoops that you have to jump through to activate the game after purchase, even though I really enjoyed HL and the reviews indicated that I would like HL2.

I will decide on registering when I have the time to sort it

Battlefield 2 won't even start unless you have an ACTIVE internet connection. I guess it's just like that because everyone used to steal games instead of buying them.

Anyway the thing you have to upload to clanbase is an identity key that is generated from your cd key. It's impossible to recreate the cd key even if you have this 'guid', so no worries there. The Clanbase crew are very serious people, the thing itself is sponsored and hosted by XS4ALL (elected best dutch provider many times) so there's really nothing to worry about.

This is correct, but it still is a potential security risk, even if a minor one. I am not at liberty to explain in public though :-S
