They probably wish for an alternative key bind like f5 or something to change to your menu and the normal esc for the normal menu :l

Can't the command ShowSpecialMenu be used to open the UTF menu? (And bind it to a new key)

Ya... the point is just, every (dumb) user should have the ability to get to the menu, WITHOUT ever touching the user.ini, unreal.ini etc.

I could add a setting and question the user the first time he enters which menu he wants, and from then on he's never bothered again. But... I've already seen that even this type of question is sometimes answered wrongly (because the UTF UT build has such a question and I know someone who accidently clicked the wrong reply and then couldn't go back and answer it right again...).

I could, of course, also make an alternate keybind/command for it - but then again that would force every user to read the manual - and we all know no one except admins SERIOUSLY read it.

So, instead of wasting precious time and adding totally needless code, I just force all users to get the new menu, the old menu is ONLY ONE SINGLE EXTRA MOUSE CLICK AWAY!

That way, every user has a chance to use it, it always works (except for Gold...), every user can resist using it if he wants to - but it's reliable and without addition of any code (except one single line which tells Unreal which base menu to use).

Sirfrag, Vash, Wizz, and a couple of others have trouble connecting to my utf10b servers (not running kerberos or nepthsys), Wizz just times out with nocuid error, sirfrag gets in but takes like 3 min, and vash gets in but takes him like 2 min. any thoughts on anything I can do/check to alleviate this issue? I would hate to downgrade to 9f as then id introduce the mismatch issue for peeps which is annoying, though workable.

.... issue resolved over ICQ. Disabling multimeshes did the trick, although I wouldn't understand how that feature would increase login that long. Nevermind that though, the days of that technology is counted anyway.

ye multimeshes are already disabled and timeout set to 45, sirfrag still takes 2-3 min to connect, and wizz cant connect at all. My concern is that 4 peeps reported issues, but i would guess theres more that dont bother.

Uhm i quite like the UTF menu, i think it givs the whole gametype a much more professional look. I think anyone who would prefere the old menu are only Unreal die-hards who like all the authentic crap (yea emp i'm talking to you, with your hating of the S3TC textures and all that).

I agree.
And what would you do if at some point you suddenly wanted the menu again? There's no way to go from the Unreal menu to the UTF menu  Once disabled, it's GONE!
How bout making it an option? Anyway I'm not that bothered about that menu anyway, I never really use it. I don't mind editing .ini files either...

You mean like the old one with no mouse support?

Also, since I have way more options in some menues, I would quickly run out of space if I tried to put every menu option one below another disregarding the fact the screen has a horizontal size too

I hate it when gametypes force their own menus onto you without any prior consent. Whenever I see the UTF menu appear I just go straight to "Unreal Menu".

In an effort to make things easier for Wolf I have created a forum strictly for UTF which can be found here. Green River Forum So stop on by and register. Wolf has full access there and on a side note it would be a pleasure to see some TCPer's visit. Registration is required btw.
