Is it not like that ppl moving to UT2003/UT2004? Not to UT?
How long UT will be alive? There is UT2007(or 6, nevermind) comming. :?

We all make our own decisions of course. Personally I will move on to UT2004. The main thing is not which game to play, but to keep this clan alive. It's pretty common to have a clan play more than one game, so I see no reason why anyone would have to leave this clan if they wanted to play UT2004, UT, UT2007 or whatever. The only thing for me would be that the game would have to be Unreal related.

Well just for your information, the transition from U1 to UT was relatively (!!) easy, because the engines are still very similar. I won't indulge on all the problems which arose, but the mere fact, that transition from one engine to a SIMILAR one took one man to develop 2 years should make you start thinking... how long would it take on an engine which are actually DIFFERENT? I daresay ut2k4's engine is nothing like the 436 engine anymore, most code just plain won't work there anymore, almost EVERYTHING would have to be rewritten. Worse even, all the models and textures would have to be remade (KARMA and RAGDOLLS anyone...?) of which I have no clues.

That's why I won't do it. If I was serious about converting it in an adequate (99% closeness to originality) I would suggest an expert team of about 20 people for the job and give them 1 year. Epic itself could probably do it in less time, but why should they...
