Description:

This is a new take on the classic deathmatch map, DmDeck16. It is the most popular deathmatch map, with more that 10 servers running it, most of which that is the _only_ map being run. People play it because it is very well designed (the powerful pickups are all in risky locations, and the weapons are well placed to balance each spawn point) and because there is always someone else willing to give you a challenge.
Well, things have just gotten a little different...Now, the map is played from a 3rd person perspective, zoomed out, at 90 degrees to the player. You might immediately think 'Mario' or 'Sonic' but truth is its nothing like them. You still have all unreals weapons, textures, sounds, the lot. In any case, it is all very hard to describe...Go and take a look for yourself...

Installation:

Unzip 2D_Game.u to unreal/system and 2DDeck16.unr to unreal/maps. Start unreal, hit tab and type 'open 2DDeck16'.

New perspective on player
Higher jump

bugs:

Sometimes the camera gets stuck in the first person view on spawning. To fix this, press tab and type 'viewself'.

Other players when attacking sometimes do not turn round to face you...there is no fix for it yet, but this _is_ just a beta...

Still to come:

Two or three new maps (2DDeathFan is already underway)
Aiming system, allowing you to point your gun at different angles
Changes on the more pointless weapons (for example, changing the rifles zoom so that it zooms in the direction you are facing, not on the player)
Enhanced perspective, so you can see more of what is going on.

Looks like fun. I already played Mario in Unreal and it's quite a good engine for platform games :)

I had a 2D game for Unreal once, it was a good idea but had serious issues with the perspective, it really kills the fun when you get shot and never see where the shots come from.

uh my playing isnt that bad. ill be good again by next week, once ive formatted my pc and fixed all the 3000 viruses and hackers and spyware. even on like 640X400 my games really jumpy.

ya the map works in non gold. i use non gold, so does dots.

tried opening it on carnages server tho it didnt work. the 2d_game.u didnt load.
